Kanze Dena has officially been confirmed as State House Spokesperson and Head of the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU).
Ms Dena has been serving in the same position in an acting capacity for the last three months and takes over from Manoah Esipisu who was in July appointed Kenya’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom by President Kenyatta.
“We wish Ms. Dena success in her new role and ask all stakeholders including PSCU staff, the media and colleagues in Government to accord her the support she needs to excel,” a statement from State House reads.
In June, President Uhuru poached Ms Dena from Royal Media Services where she was a Swahili news anchor at Citizen TV and named her the Deputy State House Spokesperson.
Weeks later, the trained journalist was named acting State House Spokesperson and PSCU boss.
“I will work with my team and all stakeholders across Government to ensure that we deliver on our mandate as the President’s media team,”Ms Dena said on Friday after officially being confirmed as State House spokeswoman.
“I am well aware of the demands of the job and confirm my preparedness to step into the shoes of my predecessor. I trust that with God and with the support of my superiors and the cooperation of my team, we will be able to succeed,” Ms Dena added.
She becomes the first female State House Spokesperson and Head of PSCU in Kenya’s history.
