Wiper party has launched a new branch in the United Kingdom as part of the outfit’s plan to spread its roots globally.
Speaking during the opening of the UK chapter in Birmingham on Sunday, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka said the party is in discussions with the UK national party to enable Kenyan youths get training and employment opportunities in Britain.
Musyoka said the new Wiper UK branch will give an opportunity to supporters in diaspora to actively engage in party affairs.
“Kenya is at crossroads and requires the participation of all of us to curb the runaway corruption and to bring down spiralling national debt,” Kalonzo said.
“The youth will receive the first-hand experience on running an issue-based campaign in Kenya as opposed to politics of ‘stomach and ethnicity’ prevalent in Kenya,” he said.
Patrick Kiilu, who was named as the interim chairperson of the Wiper UK chapter, said they will launch various initiatives aimed at ending the culture of impunity and corruption in Kenya.
Kalonzo also indicated he will be running for presidency during the 2022 general elections. In April, leaders from the Ukambani region endorsed Kalonzo’s 2022 presidential bid in an event dubbed the “Koma Declaration”.
During the function, community leaders, professionals, church leaders and elders vowed to rally behind the former Vice President in his quest to become Kenya’s fifth President.
