Lifestyle Audit: Raila Challenged to Explain How He Managed to Build Sh1 Billion Palatial Home

Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Achesa has challenged Raila Odinga to explain to Kenyans how to built his alleged Sh1 billion palatial residence in Kisumu.

Speaking in Kakamega County on Sunday, Achesa said he supports President Kenyatta’s directive on lifestyle audit for all State officers and urged the president to extend it to opposition leaders who previously served in government.

Achesa said Raila owns a Sh1 billion home at Riat hills in Kisumu, which was reportedly constructed during his days as Prime Minister. He called on Odinga to tell the country the source of the funds used to build the mansion.

“As we speak today, Hon. Raila Odinga is my neighbour in Kisumu, he owns a house worth Ksh.1 billion on the hills. Let him also be ready to be accountable to Kenyans,” said CS Achesa.

“He built that house when he was Prime Minister. Let him be ready to tell Kenyans the source of those funds because we know his salary was Sh1.2 million and his mortgage was Sh40 million.”

“So how does a Sh40 million mortgage build a house worth Sh1 billion?”

Achesa, who refers himself as the ‘village boy,’ said he was ready to undergo a lifestyle audit saying he was just “the son of poverty. His comments come a week after Odinga declared he was ready to have the wealth audit conducted on him.

“We remain in the position that what is good for Kenya is good for ODM. The war on corruption is good for Kenya and we are in it fully, lifestyle audit on leaders is good for Kenya and personally I am ready for it,” said Raila.

  1. Bwana Rashid! Put Auditors…
Bwana Rashid! Put Auditors to Work and Let them Audit Agwambo’s LifeStle. Meanwhile: Raila Odinga na Mpira! Raila na Mpira!! Anajaribu Kumchenga Rashid Achesa. Oh! Achesa ameanguka chini!! Raila peke yake na Mpira!!! Anaelekea kufunga bao!!!! Tuseme nini Jameni?

  2. This is a very good move…
This is a very good move. Let us start with leaders like Raila. If he cannot explain his wealth, we know it’s either corruption or he has sold Kenya for cheap. Kenya is about to undergo transformation. We glorified those with wealth, Kenya will no longer do so unless that wealth was rightfully acquired. Let these audits take place so we can retire those found guilty of ill acquired wealth including churches and church leaders. How can one have 1 billion home while those he fights for and those that die for him cannot afford one decent meal a day in Kibera. Kenya is on the move. God help Kenya!!

  3. Tough call but a competent…
Tough call but a competent audit can uncover if corrupt funds were used in constructing the home. If the loan was shs.40 million, from which of his accounts did the rest of the money come from? And if money came from those accounts, how and where did that money come from?

  4. Only a mad man will spend…
Only a mad man will spend such money to build such a home at raila age.Such pple building such homes use stollen cash.A normal hardworking fella won’t spend such money to build 1billion house.
