Photo of Frail-Looking Billionaire Chris Kirubi Surfaces Online, Kenyans Concerned

A Photo of a seemingly weak Kenyan business magnate Chris Kirubi, who was flown to the United States in November last year for treatment has surfaced online.

A photo widely circulated on social media shows the billionaire (pictured with national chairman of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Kiprono Kitony) looking frail but jovial.

It is not clear where and when the photo was captured.

His illness was first made public by Centum CEO James Mworia in a memo sent to the staff. Mworia said the business mogul had traveled to the US for treatment, but did not reveal what he was suffering from.

However, sources have intimated that the tycoon was diagnosed with cancer. Here is how Kenyans on Twitter reacted to the photo:

@DavidOsiany: I know that with #NairobiRains one wld feel terrible that Chris Kirubi built his Two Rivers Mall on a Wetland. However, death & pain are tragedies we shouldn’t even wish our worst enemies. I pray that CK regains his full health, reflects abt the past & rights all wrongs. Godspeed

Atitwa@AtitwaGmail said: Money is not everything.People are. How  you live on earth and exit the earth is determined by how you related to people around you.Chris Kirubi had money and never cared about a well knit family and the ill wealth created can’t give good health and peace.”

@_ericndemange tweeted: “Chris kirubi seems more unwell. God who heal & forgive should visit Chris on his bed & touch his condition for good. Diseases are not part of our life/body cos our body is the Temple of Almighty God.
Jesus take the wheel to kirubi.”

Duncan Makori noted :”Money cannot buy life. Look at Chris Kirubi!”

@JMKTV commented: “Wishing Chris Kirubi all of the best. He is one of my role models. His business acumen in media and real estate is unchallenged. A leader Kenya needs to live for a long time. God bless him.”

@EtalePhilip: Attacking someone in his/her time of pain is QUITE inhuman. Our Morales have really decayed and we sound uncouth even when we ought to empathise with someone. Get well soon Chris Kirubi.

OOOuuuiii OOUUUuuu muici,OOOUUUiii,OooUUUii,WEKA TIRE.It’s unfortunate that thug Kirubi can’t steal cure/good health.I just wonder who might bury(if he dies) Kirubi,a billinaire gangster who hates his siblings like trash, ati ni masikini. He almost fought his elder brother at Chiromo mortuary because of including his name(Kirubi) in burial announcements of another brother who had expired. But his tough brother dared him for a fight aone na amutambue yeye nani na hajui hiyo pesa zake za wizi.

  5. We as black people should…
We as black people should rethink these drugs and how they affect our DNA. Some of these drugs were never meant for the black person. Why? Because black people are never well represented in research before these toxic drugs are rolled out to the public. Less is probably better but everyone has a right to seek whatever medical care they deem fit. Its amazing how people don’t talk openly about the ailments they are going through and rely more on a few who maybe leading them to the slaughter. Secrets will finish us.

For all those who worship money as if life is infinite……. like a comment above maisha ya mwanadamu ni kama maua, yes enjoy life , smell the air, smell the flowers in the trails they are free, be nice to others, even if you do not get a mansion in Kenya like mhalisi, its okay, even if you rent , it is okay as long as you are healthy, happy and take each day as a blessing . I do not mean do not work hard , just saying working hard, high flying etc is not everything in the end.

    • Formerlyguest2, well said…
Formerlyguest2, well said. I have had two encounters with CK where he verbally disrespected me and my buddies because he didn’t know who we were at a fundraising event held in an exclusive club in Nairobi. I had the guts to verbally lash back at him for his uncalled for comments which shocked him. Over the years, I have forgiven him and moved on. My two negative encounters with him and his rumored role in the downfall of Kenatco and Uchumi is never reason enough for me to wish him ill health or to revel in his current condition. I spend enough time in Kenya to see how badly people with any semblance of wealth behave towards the less fortunate. Money simply will not buy you happiness and or wealth. Like you said, enjoy the simple things in life because tomorrow is never promised. Whenever I visit relatives who have build mansions in exclusive neighborhoods in Nairobi, their homes look impressive but cold and lonely. That enough tells me a lot about wealth and happiness.

Kirubi, from the time people started talking about his HIV+ status, if indeed it’s true, should have COME OUT and with his big money MADE HIS EXPERIENCE A WORK OF GOD… Start an intervention (NGO or testing, information and medical help for the HIV+ needy viwandas) something like what ASUNTA WAGURA did which no money, just when AIDS was getting known in Africa.

So in Kenya you are not slaving to get what you have now, they just fall from heaven, please I come in and out of that country often and I know everyone hustles there like everyone else here.Stop pretending how you are stress free even with your plotis that you rent to the poor kenyans coz I know you do not own a commercial building that you rent out in CBD = wealth. If you hate USA or elsewhere that is not Kenya so much, why do you talk so much about it? You sound so bitter , yes you said you came from nothing , then if you did, you should humble yourself . Obviously you suffered while you were here, some Kenyans didn’t . Some came and went to school, got their major degrees and got superb careers right out of the ballpack and have never stepped a foot in blue collar jobs, work minimum hours a week and live well( we exist) so my brother stick with who and what you knew as your experience, certainly it was never mine so I can not relate to you , sawa?

  17. If you have never nursed or…
If you have never nursed or attended a cancer or a seriously ill patient, please never wish anybody, including anybody who have ever hurt you, or an enemy…bad omen. I have lived it, I know it, and a brother of mine is almost to be declared cancer-free, hallelluyah. Waachie waliokupa matungu Mungu wao. I was hurt by one, William Ng’ang’a Macharia, owner of DMV Shipping LLC, of 8302 Stewart Court, Laurel, Maryland 20724; date of birth February 1977; height 6.1″, when I was relocating to Jamhuri in 2015, after he lost more than 58% of my cargo when I was relocating to Kenya in 2015. Even after I had paid him all the shipping charges, the guy disappeared in thin air and never compensated me, but I still see him preying on other unsuspecting Kenyan clients on Mwakilishi. You know what I did, I wrote him a note reiterating that my God will repay me handsomely one day, one time. Imagine all the overtime and ma-doubles I worked for like 4 months to buy goods and merchandise that will cushion me once I land in Kenya, and then somebody looses and fails to deliver even 9 months later(instead of the usual 8 weeks),and disappears in woods of Maryland, feeling happy and a victor? Well, in my note, I told him God will make him pay me, if not him, his family’s generation. People can be cruel. Then I went silent. I smelt an aroma of arrogance, pride and a lack-of-remorse-apology in him, and told myself…wau. I also beseeched him to never ever hurt an innocent Kenyan client again. Many people out there, especially in Kenya, are really hurting people. But what I say, waachie Mungu wao. The power of forgiveness, the will to forget and move on, is what makes us strong. In his mind, William Ng’ang’a Macharia is a victor, but in my sour bitterness, am triumphant. Let wish Mr Chris Kirubi quick recovery, his family needs him more than we do.

Why wish someone to die? We are all human beings and no one is perfect, put yourself in his shoes having pain day and night and looking very fragile. We are no exception, today we are healthy, who knows a bout tomorrow? Even if you wish him to die and for sure he dies, what will you gain? We are all passersby and soon or later we will die. I trust that God can heal any ailment. Kirubi’s life is in God’s hands and no one else has power over his healing or death. All belongs to almight. May God do his will.
