The government has denied claims of attempted assassination of National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga.
In a statement on his Twitter handle, the spokesman of Interior Ministry Mwenda Njoka dispelled allegations of attempts on the opposition leader Raila’s life.
“Claims of an attempt on Raila’s life that are being circulated on social media are false and absolutely baseless,” he said via Twitter on Friday.
He added: “They should be ignored and treated with the contempt they deserve”, he said, adding that the claims are aimed at attracting sympathy.
The claims came after windscreen of Raila’s vehicle was hit as police used teargas canisters to scatter opposition supporters in Nairobi on Friday.
The windscreen was allegedly damaged along Jogoo road as opposition supporters engaged in running battles with police, who attempted to block Raila’s convoy and his supporters from entering Nairobi Central Business District.
Raila had been received by opposition leaders and supporters at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as he returned to the country following a 10-day trip to the United States.
The opposition leader was scheduled to address supporters at Uhuru Park, but his plan was thwarted by resisting officers who blocked them from entering the facility. Raila later addressed a small gathering in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area.
“This (police response) is a sign of a crumbling regime,” Raila said.
He added: “The third liberation is unstoppable.”
Raila, if Jubilee wanted you…
Raila, if Jubilee wanted you dead you would have been in the ground by now cold. Fact is they are not interested in making you the martyr you wish you could be. You will never be one cos that would give your goons a purpose in life which they are lacking.
Indeed! Nice one @Mugi
Indeed! Nice one @Mugi
Mugi. Nonsense! Its obvious …
Mugi. Nonsense! Its obvious (from Evidence) that Jubilee wants Raila Dead. Please use your Common Sense; not Jubilee Sense.
Haters will awlays hate…
Haters will awlays hate regardless of the facts and evidence tabled. Raila will go into history books as one of the most persistent political revolutionist in Kenya’s history. He championed multi-partism, he is fighting for the 42 tribes agaisnt 1’s persistent neo-colonialism. The evidence to there, look at the car and events recorded today. I was uhuruto supporter until i saw drunkenness and dictatorship. Heading back to ICC for human rights violations, people are dead!
Let’s remember Uhuru…
Let’s remember Uhuru Kenyatta is a human being too.
All humans can be killed.
We have a long way to go.
Mugi. I thank the LORD God…
Mugi. I thank the LORD God Almighty for Raila’s Bulletproof Car and Above All for God Himself PROTECTING Raila for all these years Kenyatta and Moi Adherents have TRIED to finish Raila Hundreds of Times. Shame on the Devils! WAMESHINDWA katika Jina la YESU! Amen!!!
@Guest1, wake up stop…
@Guest1, wake up stop hallucinating.
Expect collateral damage…
Expect collateral damage when you engage in violent demonstration. He should count himself lucky there was no injury or loss of limb, on his part, despite all the carnage his unruly goons left in their wake. It is unfortunate some of his looting demonstrators we’re killed; and not by police; the usual human sacrifice that accompanies his zest for power.
I disagree. 1. whether you…
I disagree. 1. whether you are agree with them or not give them their freedom of speech and assembly’s rights as stipulated by law. 2. Reduce the tension and avoid escalating the problmes, no need for excessive heavy armored police presence and there will be no tension. 3. Applying non-effective measures and yielding the same results all the time is foolish; so who won, the innocent businessmen, the demstrators or the police? 4. The resistance movement are dtermined to put their lives there for a cause they believe in, it’s there right, do or die and nothing aint gonna stop them as long as they are within the relm of law. The governement need to try new measures.
I disagree too. They …
I disagree too. They (nasarites) misinterpret their freedom of speech and assembly to mean assembly to infringe on my right to a peaceful and enabling environment to sustain myself. Freedom of assembly does not translate to a right to trample on another’s property.
You also don’t promise a “one-million” march to a secure facility and expect the authorities to stand by and watch without intervention. Warnings had been issued, but nasarites are averse to following rules. The outcome is inevitable. Joshua’s ego is inflated, but five lie dead. There could be more once the tear gas clears.
The nasarites can celebrate but also condemn those among them with brutish instincts.
@Maraga you have said it…
@Maraga you have said it well. Everyone has the right to assemble and protest peacefully but the minute that right infringes on another’s right, then that right ceases to be a right but criminal behavior. In most civilized countries, there are secure grounds that cannot and should not be used by anyone to protest because of security reasons.The chief of police expressed that but as usual Haki yet folks decided they are above the law . It is only them who are allowed to exist and other Kenyans should hold their life at standstill while they protest – The selfishness!
Was Musando doing any…
Was Musando doing any demonstrations and destruction of properties when he got murdered? You are so self centered, egocentric, we will keep demostrating till we achieve our goal. Your words can’t stop us.
No one is stopping you,…
No one is stopping you, knock yourselves out ! Do you see Uhuruto making any statements out there to try and stop you – maybe Chief of police whose is doing the job he was hired to do – Security for every Kenyan. Lakini remember , usiamche asiye lala ama utalala mwenyewe – they are not quiet because they are cowards , they = Uhuruto
And on what evidence do you…
And on what evidence do you make that claim? Indeed it should be of no surprise to you that jakuom alias Kony alias fake Joshua ordered the murder of osando. You can take that to the bank.
That picture is taken from…
That picture is taken from the inside of the vehicle. Fake Joshua learned how to takes pictures in USA to distribute to his followers. Were the reporters inside fake Joshua car? The damages was caused by a stone because bullets make a hole and enter into the car. Were they trying to assassinate him using the stones?
I know right! This is so…
I know right! This is so comical, try all angles to get to Canaan, sad!
Kenya. Yours is PATHOLOGICAL…
Kenya. Yours is PATHOLOGICAL Denial of RIGGING; and now ASSASSINATION Attempt.
@Guest1. Kwani ulisomea…
@Guest1. Kwani ulisomea Physics wapi? That is a stone thrown by his goons. A bullet would have created a small hole because it size and the energy it carries. The stone is big and carries less energy
@kENYA, you don’t sound…
@kENYA, you don’t sound intelligent here. Who cannot see where the picture is taken from? Did you have something you wanted to say and got side tracked?
@LifeisaCycle. You are an…
@LifeisaCycle. You are an idiot. You mean you do not know how an inside of a car looks like? You mean you cannot differentiate the inside of a car and the outside of a car. What kind of stupidity is this? And you dare tell somebody that they don’t sound intelligent. Your car has Rear-view mirror & Visor outside that why you cannot know where the picture was taken from. No wonder fake Joshua thinks for you because you cannot be able to think for yourself.
Didn’t you know you have to…
Didn’t you know you have to break it down to the most elementary form for some simple minded folks. Good job though in explaining the anatomy of a vehicle to a lifecycle.
Uhuru and Ruto: Who killed…
Uhuru and Ruto: Who killed Chris Msando and Jacob Juma? We are tired of waiting for the responses from our incompetent Joseph Boinnett and Ndegwa Muhoro.
Uhuru and Ruto, we saw you ordered your robots (police) to kill innocent children and a pregnant mother during the two fake elections. You should be accused again of committing crimes against humanity! Aren’t you tired of this merciless killings?
It is time you two returned to your former failed businesses before Toroitich groomed you two to continue with his dictatorial tendencies once he was booted out by our heroes of our second liberation.
Nobody wants to kill Raila;…
Nobody wants to kill Raila; but he also has to understand that many citizens of Kenya are sick and tired of his unending theatrics. People want to go on with their lives but Raila is the stumble. The constitution is clear; one ballot elected President at a time. But Raila is disrupting peoples’ lives because he aspires to be President through the back door. It is his fault that he did not participate in the October 26 elections; he withdrew. No one wants to kill you. So, stop it!
Sokora. When people love you…
Sokora. When people love you, they love you. 70% of Kenyans LOVE Raila; and it’s UNSTOPPABLE. Long Live Tibim!!!
How many of the 70% are…
How many of the 70% are voters? That is what matters.
@Sokora, do not engage na…
@Sokora, do not engage na Haki yetu folks here. Everything baba does and its consequences is right in their eyes but I have read comments
elsewhere where NASA damu folks condemns the violence and the disruption of businesses and properties, so I see there is hope that some on that side of equations are logical and decent.So do not engage with subjective folks.
It’s scary to think of a…
It’s scary to think of a situation where the true enemies of Kenya wanted to finish us. It wouldn’t take much; assassinate one of Raila or Uhuru and we’re done. Oh yeah, and by real enemies, I don’t mean your little tribal battle lines – I’m talking about foreign governments. People who profit from war and sale of arms.
Ngoja mafuta ya turkana ianzwe kudrillwa – fun times 🙁
All I know is that in Raila…
All I know is that in Raila’s absence there was a return to normalcy. Why is it that every time he is involved in something there is death and chaos? Were Nasarites not thinking in his absence?
I like that you are…
I like that you are concerned with the maintenance of normalcy in Kenya. Are you also concerned by the looting taking place in the government? The rundown of services?
Raila is just an asshole…
Raila is just an asshole!where do all luos in juakali or other businesses in many towns go to if they are pushed out or their business boycotted?
You wasapare or kikuyus…
You wasapare or kikuyus understand that what Raila is fighting for is free fair and credible election for the future.Every election circle election is stolen or bungled because greatness and power.Kikuyus are afraid of Raila that he may take away the looted property from them”No he is not he just wants democracy to prevail for the future generations. If you have children’s and as father you go out and steal all the time what are you teaching your children’s?When the whole world know that elections again was robbed from Raila bow come that kikuyus don’t see it that way? What’s the population of the whole world compared to a small fraction of kikuyu’s about 2.5 millions.How much do you want to be educated on voting.Part from Museveni and Kagame who are dictators whom have only congratulated uhuru win but the rest of the world is not.You mind set that stealing is the only way to live a better life.Even those you think that they little bit educated they are the eorst.Kenya has had the worst attorney general in history I mean the guy has been defending uhuru from the begining.Why is he always sneaking in as a friend of the court and he switched to be an attorney for his cousin. Why does the suprem court even allow him to talk.The guy is so stupid.
Is that what he was doing in…
Is that what he was doing in 1982? Fighting for a free and fair democracy, huh?
An argument can be made that Moi became a dictator as a result of the coup.
It’s funny how everyone is…
It’s funny how everyone is taking sides and calling people from the other tribes blind and disillusioned etc.
Fact of the matter is: Uhuru, and especially Ruto, are bad at governance, and they’ve misused public funds. They’re saddling future generations with debt and pocketing the loot. Does the average jubilee supporter know this? Yeah, they do, but do they benefit from it? Probably not. Would a better president serve them better? YES. But why aren’t they open to change?
Here’s why… Raila is using a tribal narrative to oust jubilee. Bringing together some tribes and playing on jubilee’s incompetence in government to rouse people’s anger. The average person in NASA has been conditioned hate jubilee supporters. Apparently, it’s jubilee’s supporters’ fault that we’re a run down country! Do you think this hate will disappear if NASA gets into power? Do you expect a jubilee supporter to vote for change in this scenario? Would you? In short, his message from what I see is that, jubilee are corrupt, and they need to go. But what next? Their time to eat probably.
My point is, politics in Kenya is currently a big tribal clusterfeck. We need a new direction. It doesn’t have to be nasa or jubilee. And I have a plan
If you have a plan,weka hapa…
If you have a plan,weka hapa I will support anyone with a fresh ideas. I agree with you that we need a third option, and the sooner the better
If you have a plan,weka hapa…
If you have a plan,weka hapa I will support anyone with fresh ideas. I agree with you that we need a third strong option, and the sooner the better
Haki ya mama, ukisema uko na…
Haki ya mama, ukisema uko na plan, halafu ukose, tutaonana. Kama uko na 3rd force, tuelezee tuone kama ndio suluhisho.
I’m not scared of internet…
I’m not scared of internet worriors. But I’m assuming you were joking?
First off, we need a…
First off, we need a critical mass of civically educated people, people willing to vote for the right candidate. Regardless of bribes etc. I know, definition of the right candidate is subjective, but for the purpose of this discussion, let’s assume someone like Jesus, or Mohammed, or an ideal person.
That, established, how do we get there? I’m assuming we have enough people who are fed up with this tribal marlakey, people who want change, but don’t know where to turn to. People who want to effect change but just don’t have the right channel(s). I’m assuming these individuals are willing to invest money and time to educate their tribesmen. Unselfish individuals. I’m assuming they’re educated and that their tribesmen are willing to listen to them.
So I propose a no nonsense political party, whose candidates sign contracts and a honor code. Issue no money in campaigns, don’t accept any current breed of politicians. And accept altruistic individuals. I know, initially, we won’t get votes or support, but that’s why I insist on unselfish individuals. Long story short, we might not get a good president in our lifetime, but at least, we will have left a beacon of hope for like minded people to turn to, and actually effect tangible actions/change. Eventually, this will catch on, and people will be more willing to join us. Eventually snowball Kenya into a bright future.
Tldr: we need a pure party for altruists to join. Simple.
Sorry, it’s Friday, had a long week, I’m a bit tipsy, so pardon any mistakes in logic or grammar.
I was joking. You are…
I was joking. You are altruistic, I agree. You have a good plan. But a good plan is effective only if implemented. To effect your good plan, we need to find a person or people with charisma. Like an Obama, or a Raila (devoid of his evil side), a Jomo, or Nkrumah or Lumumba, or Gandhi or a Jesus or Socrates. Short of that, it remains just a good plan.
I get what you’re saying…
I get what you’re saying about getting a charismatic person, but I think that would come later? For now, I’d say the main goal is to provide a place/party for people who genuinely care about Kenya to join, come together, and make their voices heard. Right now, there’s two polarized groups, and sensible Kenyans are caught in the middle, watching painfully as events unfold. Almost powerless. What can they do?
Imagine we had the party I’m talking about? From the get go, we don’t bribe voters. So we don’t need to pilfer public funds once in office Yes, it’s going to be a struggle at first, but I believe that, we just need a critical mass of like minded people in place to forever change politics in Kenya.
If I go to my village and explain to people that we need to do something, people will listen to me. I believe it’s the same with most of us.
What is your plan oh wise…
What is your plan oh wise one.
He is the only person in…
He is the only person in this world that i can celebrate if dead. The more he lives, the more people continue to die. Is his life special.?
Do you at least appreciate…
Do you at least appreciate the fact that the people willing to die for his course deserve better? Or are you one of those who think they’re protesting out of sheer stupidity?
Can Raila first look at the…
Can Raila first look at the log in his own eyes before looking at the speck in another person or group of people eyes.look what he is doing out of selfish desires. How come its just today you realize that Kenyans have been oppressed. What have you done for your people. People who want to be leaders don’t have to wait to be in power. The power is in them, start making changes right from your backyard to the big arenas. Intead of running up and down telling lies at your age. You and your comrades are merciless of the young and poor children who desperately need education to be the better leaders of tomorrow. Pave the way for them and let another brother take the lead.your time is up sir.But instead you incite them to go against the law. What a leader with his fellow crew men and women. Lord have mercy
