Maraga Orders Parties in Presidential Petitions to File Responses by Sunday

Chief Justice David Maraga has directed President Uhuru Kenyatta, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Chairperson Wafula Chebukati and National Super Alliance (NASA) to file their responses to petitions challenging October 26th repeat election by 5pm on Sunday.

The first petition was filed on Monday by former Kilome Member of Parliament Harun Mwau, who named IEBC, chairman Wafula Chebukati and president Uhuru kenyatta as the respondents.

The second petition was lodged Njonjo Mue and Khelef Khalifa and lists Uhuru, IEBC, Chebukati and NASA as the respondents.

In a statement on Wednesday, Chief Justice said the responses should not exceed 30 pages of at least font 12 and double spacing, while those wishing to be enjoined in the case as interested parties or friends of the court should limit their submissions to five pages.

“Responses to such applications should be filed and served together with written submissions thereon,” Maraga said.

Here we go again! Please guys, remember your thinking caps this time around don’t leave them at home. We’ve a country to run here no time for dramas. Since you first mouthed your world’s most stupid verdict ever, hell broke loose: supermarkets looted, people died, policemen stoned, police stations attacked, motorists beaten up, businesses destroyed, economy on a free fall, a terrorist organization, NRM aka, Boko-Rao-Haram born, Kalnzo gone into self-exile, billions of people’s money wasted on a useless, unwarranted repeat election- that only proved the anulling of Uhuru’s August election was a mere hatred for kikuyus and not about election justice, Mr. Maraga, just remember, if you break it, you own it. Be mindful of the chaos, mayhem and the pain and division you have caused our beautiful nation with your partial September verdict. On that reckless verdict, the world is still laughing at us, they don’t do the crap you did in their own countries because they know its crazy – that was incredible!!.

If it was up to me.I would ask the judges to veto the proceedings by just not showing up.The thought of what would happen if this court makes the same mistake it made after the aug 8th election is just gut wrenching to be honest.Unjust and uncalled for annulment of presidential elections is a recipe for anarchy and chaos.Kenyans need to move on with their lives.Kenyans need to nation build.Nobody needs to go back to electioneering. My obvious advice to this court is:Uphold the election of UHURU.Period.Let Kenyans move on with their lives.

This Court shall deliver a just verdict, and to that effect this Court will order another election in 90 days after which a CARE TAKER government shall be appointed to run the affairs of the country in the meantime.

@Mbingu.If it was up to your ideology to run the country.Kenya would descend into chaos and instability.Look at the mess in south sudan for example and learn from it.We have to be smart enough as a country to ensure that our political outcomes are peaceful and development conscious.

Why did it have to take 5 years to discover your RIGGING, CORRUPTION and IMPUNITY. you think this will be solved on the ballot day ? I have some safaricom shares i have safaricom line because it works better than Airtel and i decided it is the best for me . am now being ordered to stop using it.
where my mother lives only brookside buys milk from them . KCC does not bother even though its creameries are next to brookside . she used to sell to a boda boda broker who paid her peanuts until brookside made the initiative. why does raila want to dictate my life for his own interest . where was he 5 years ago when all this corruption was happening . everyone is aware of what went right or wrong . problem with most of us we have no money for court cases we had hoped the railas of this world would take the lead . No they wait until the ballot day expecting us to vote for him enmass for doing nothing . we need stability the rest come next .

  4. Uhuru is a true democrat…
Uhuru is a true democrat. Africa has never seen a person like him. He is truly a first Class World Citizen. He will go down in history as the first leader in Africa to embrace democracy. Do you know he had means and ways to quash this applications before they reached High Court registrar but he let them go? Those applications were filed at the eleventh hour. He could have easily compromised the persons receiving those applications at High Court who would then hold them(Hide) until past Wednesday’s deadline before releasing them thus making them invalid. It is a normal practice in Kenya. It’s done on daily basis by corrupt government officials in order to solicit bribes from unsuspecting citizens. Uhuru had that option but choose to do the right thing. Now it is Maraga’s time to do the right thing. He can either facilitate the destruction of the country by siding with terrorists in which case he will end up a victim himself because it is QURANTEED Raila will NEVER be a president of Kenya or he can uphold the election thus saving himself and the country.

    • Dr. Koni Hanene have raised…
Dr. Koni Hanene have raised a point that need further deliberation. Where have been Uhuru’s handlers? Where have been Ruto’s strategists? A detailed analysis shows UhuruRuto have failed to strategize their way to State House thus giving their nemesis all the weapons they need to fight them. Raila and his crones are using weapons that have been abandoned by UhuruRuto to fight the war. A good strategy would have called for UhuruRuto to place their people at all strategic places. Protecting State House does end at State House guard booth. It requires placing most trustworthy people at the most strategic places. That may be Army Chief, Police Commissioner, Attorney General, etc. By the way, how did Raila end up putting Chief Justice in his pocket? This are signs of failures by UhuruRuto handlers. Nothing like this could have happened if persons who knew what they were doing were in charge. Do they need help? Hire Dr. Hanene. He knows how handle people like Raila. Raila is layman that is driven by big ego and for him to be the one controlling Judiciary it’s ridiculous!!!. The swearing in of Uhuru is been held back by actions of a known drug dealer and few other disruptors who just want name recognition. This again should not have been the case as Dr. Koni Hanene said. All those petitions have been filed on behest of Raila. Drug barons like Harun Mwau want a Raila government that has promised him freehand on drug racketeering. Can you imagine a drug baron holding a country hostage? That is what happening in Kenya in the name of democracy. The bottom line is that UhuruRuto should wake and smell the rat. Raila(rat) is working so hard to take the bread and so should they.

ballot papers should have been recounted for 8th august. IEBC and Jubilee advocates failed them esp. Muite . recount would have shed the light.Best evidence. f we are opening a window for terrorist. Diaspora wait before remitting money to Kenya for investment until the country is stable. Netherlands does not use digital voting for fear of fraud we want to use digital for fear of fraud on manual voting . different folks different strokes
