Current developments at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) national tallying center at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi points out that President-elect will be declared in a matter hours.
IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said it has already received Form34B from 273 constituencies and is waiting for remaining 17 to conclude tallying of presidential results.
Nyali, Mvita, Lagdera, Wajir East, Mandera West, North Imenti, Mwingi North, Ndaragwa, Mathira, Kitui West, Turkana North, Kasipul, North Mugirango and Embakasi West are yet to submit their forms, Chebukati said in a presser on Friday.
Dramatic increase in the number of security officers, including senior members of the presidential escort, at the venue has been witnessed Friday, with a lounge previously used by VIPs in the past few days being marked “Presidential candidates only’.
Presidential Strategic Communications Unit team has also arrived at Bomas and number of elected leaders, diplomats and Cabinet secretaries trooping in at the venue.
Garissa MP-elect Aden Duale, Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed, CSs Raychelle Omamo (Defence) and Najib Balala (Tourism) and US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec is also at the venue.
Deputy President Willian Ruto and NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga also made their way at Bomas at around 1 pm.
