Jubilee Party has snatched a parliamentary seat that has been held by the opposition for a long time. Jubilee’s Nixon Korir has been declared the new Lang’ata Member of Parliament after trouncing 16 other candidates in the race.
Korir was announced the winner in the hotly contested seat, which National Super Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga held for two decades.
Korir garnered 41,086 votes while ODM candidate Oscar Omoke got 39,593 votes.
ODM party agents had threatened to disrupt the declaration after disputing the results.
