A light plane ferrying journalists to a National Super Alliance (NASA) rally on Wednesday afternoon crashed minutes after taking off from Wilson Airport in Nairobi.
The Cessna plane was carrying three Citizen TV journalists – two reporters and a cameraman – to a National Super Alliance (Nasa) campaign trail in Baringo on Wednesday.
The passengers were rushed to Nairobi West Hospital and are said to be in a stable condition. There were no casualties.
Eye witnesses said they saw the aircraft come down with a funny sound. “It roared funnily before it crashed and rolled disintegrating moments after take off,” said a witness.
Confirming the incident, Police Airwing Commandant Rodgers Mbithi said that the plane crashed near Southern Bypass, in Langata Constituency. The plane was scheduled to land at Kabarak from Wilson airport. The Opposition leaders are expected to hold rallies at diffrent stops including Tiaty, Kabarnet and Eldama Ravine in Baringo County.
