The High Court has given Machakos Gubernatorial candidate Wavinya Ndeti a political lifeline after it quashed the decision by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) dispute resolution committee to bar her from contesting for Machakos governorship.
The IEBC committee had defended its decision to bar Wavinya from contesting for the Machakos top seat, arguing that the Wiper Party candidate employed political mischief hatched by the Wiper Party to bypass party resignation ruled, and therefore, was not qualified to vie under Wiper
The former Kathiani MP however maintains that t she had followed the due process to ensure she was in Wiper Party’s list before the deadline set by the poll body, which was her main point of argument before Justice George Odunga.
IEBC lawyer Paul Nyamodi told the court that Wavinya based her membership to Wiper through a coalition agreement with Chama cha Uzalendo (CCU) dated April 24 this year, and was therefore ineligible to contest under the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party.
But delivering the ruling on Wednesday Morning, Justice George Odunga ruled that Wavinya Ndeti was eligible to run for Machakos governor seat on Wiper Party ticket, as the move by the IEBC to bar her had no legal basis.

The IEBC has already been compromised by the Jubilee alliance political party. Therefore, it is high time The High Court of Kenya in conjunction with the EACC and the CID work together as neutral bodies to clear all the current NASA and Jubilee Alliance candidates to run for public office. This should be done before August 8, 2017.
If we are serious about eliminating all the rats, cockroaches, bed bugs, lice, and fleas camouflaging as “waheshimiwa ” we must do it now. If we don’t, they will be re-elected again to continue carrying on with their vices and finally bankrupting the nation of Kenya financially.
Already the IEBC has cleared 106 candidates with lots of skeletons in their closets to run in August. If the heroine of NYS Dada Waiguru has been cleared to run by the IEBC, it is a sign that it is not fit to determine who runs or not!
