Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper Democratic Movement has reacted to reports that Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze endorsed the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta, warning him of dire consequences.

The MP is said to have issued statements suggesting that he was behind President Uhuru Kenyatta’s candidature in the August polls, contrary to his party’s stand.

In a statement, the party warned the MP of ‘consequences’ if he failed to give a satisfactory explanation of his statement.

“Hon Nyenze, the Wiper candidate for Kitui West, is quite aware of the consequences of campaigning for a rival party. WDM-K will no doubt be seeking a clarification from the MP as to whether he has, since his nomination as Kitui West parliamentary candidate on WDM-K ticket, shifted his allegiance from our party to a Jubilee candidate, after which we will chart the way forward,” the party said in a statement signed by its Executive Director Jared Siso.

Nyenze, who is also the National Assembly minority leader, was last week captured pouring praises on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s achievement at an Ukambani function that was presided over by Youth and Gender Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki.

“If somebody does well to you, you can’t forget. Can you forget those who have done well like Uhuru Kenyatta…The truth is, Uhuru has done a lot and we’ll elect those whose work can be seen,” Nyenze said.

  1. We pride ourselves in …
    We pride ourselves in modeling our democracy along the lines of America’s democracy(USA). In presidential elections, party affiliation is not a stressed. One can cross parties and vote for the president they choose. Nyenze should not be punished for his ideology, and praise of the president whom he thinks is worthy. After all, at the end of the day, apresident is supposed to be for all. Including those who did not vote for him or her.

    • Also.The ruling party is…
      Also. The ruling party is working hard to serve all Kenyans/all tribes.Even those that have been voting for the opposition. For example the Luo.The jubilee Party stands for Peace and Development for all Kenyans. All Tribes. Therefore it is important for various leaders in the communities that are in the opposition to work with Government. Nyenze should be praised for working with the President.

    @KIM;

    Let us remember some of our heroes of the second liberation by using positive words that they coined instead of using negative lexical items to identify ourselves.

    The late Dada Wangari Mathaai introduced the word “micro-nation. ” This is a far better word than the colonial insulting word “tribe.” Kenya is made up of 42 distinct micro nations.

    If we identify 5 million Danish as “people,” why do we call 15 million Hausa people of Nigeria “tribe?”

    Words are not neutral as many people would think. They are loaded with both positive and negative connotations. I have stopped using the word “mzungu.” One Canadian pointed out some place I read that she would prefer to be called Canadian instead of the “mzungu’ word. In addition, I normally identify Americans into three categories: Asian Americans, African American, and European America. Although, anyone born and raised in the USA is first an ” American ” and then the above three categories that I have pointed above.

    • @Msema Kweli. No argument…
      @Msema Kweli. No argument from me about word usage. I guess this is one of those topics that you just say to each his/her own.

    I just wanted to highlights some of the contributions made by our first African women Nobel laureate Dada Wangari Mathaai.

    When our British terrorist brothers and sisters illegally invaded and occupied Kenya, they created two artificial micro-nations the so called ” Luyias ” and ” Kalenjins.”

    Kim, we can’t continue living in the past by using the same derogatory lexical items 53 years after independence. That’s simply what I was making an effort to communicate with you and other brothers and sisters who use the word ” tribe” lightly.
