Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth has filed an appeal challenging the declaration of Nairobi senator Mike Sonko as the winner of Jubilee Party ticket in the race for Nairobi governor.

Kenneth launched the petition before the Party’s Appeals tribunal on Saturday citing massive irregularities in the process.

In a letter to the Jubilee Party, the former Gatanga legislator said that he had not conceded defeat  maintaining that the entire process should be repeated. “Kenneth has not decided otherwise nor conceded defeat since the entire process was a fraudulent and we are waiting for Jubilee party to take necessary action,” Kenneth’s team stated.

Following the announcement of the results on Thursday, Kenneth called for the annulment of the nominations results over the manner in which the party used to identify voters during the exercise. Kenneth further claimed that voters from neighboring Kajiado and Machakos counties were ferried to vote in favor of his opponent.

Sonko was been declared the winner after amassing 138,185 against Kenneth’s 62,504 votes.

The ruling is expected to be delivered by the Appeals Tribunal before May 10.

It’s not about Sonko or Kidero. It’s about moving Nairobi in the right direction. PK is the only manager who can rescue Nairobi. It is a disaster under Kidero and will be a tragedy under Sonko.
