Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho will know on April 26 if he can be arrested and charged with forging a KCSE certificate.

Justice Eric Ogola of the High Court extended to April 26th the order he issued last week barring the investigation, arrest or prosecution of Joho by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), Director of Public Prosecution, and the Inspector General of Police.

John is accused of having presented a fake KCSE certificate showing a KCSE mean grade of C+ to gain admission into a public university, eventually earning a degree. He has denied the allegations and called the accusations a political witch hunt by the Jubilee government, although he later admitted having scored a KCSE mean grade of D-. It is therefore unclear how he gained admission to the university if he indeed presented the real certificate. A minimum grade of C+ is required for admission into a degree program.

Justice Ogola will rule on April 26th whether Joho can be investigated and arrested on the allegations.
