Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip has put to rest rumors of his alleged romantic relationship with Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s daughter, Saumu Mbuvi.
In an interview with the Nairobian, Loitiptip confirmed he is in a relationship with Ms. Saumu and the two were planning to tie the knot before the end of this year.
At the same time, the first-time Senator denied claims that he is married, noting that he was previously in a relationship with Sophia Mohamed, a police officer.
The politician said he broke up with Ms. Sophia due to disagreements over family, finance, and career.
“I am in a serious relationship with Saumu and we are planning a lavish Islamic wedding whose date will be announced soon, probably towards the end of the year,” Loitiptip said.
Senator Loitiptip also noted that their relationship with Saumu is purely based on love and not money.
“I made my way into politics through the support of Lamu electorate. Sonko is a good friend and I stand by him in his political ambitions,” he stated.
Loitiptip recently sustained serious injuries while defending Saumu against armed men outside Memphis Lounge along Thika Road.
He was admitted to Aga Khan Hospital’s ICU with head injuries but has since recovered.
Saumu who is currently on a vacation in Zanzibar with Senator Loitiptip, also denied claims that she was dating a married man.
“What is this I am seeing all over the media that my husband is married, yet I know he isn’t? I never heard of any wedding between him and any woman,” the mother of one said.
Muslims are allowed to marry…
Muslims are allowed to marry many fives.
@ Kenya,I have no problem…
@ Kenya,I have no problem with that, but dont you think that it short changes women.Women should be allowed as well to marry as many men as they want.Let them make that choice,to or not to.
See these are some of the out dated customs that need to be erased from modern societies. They may have been valid at one point in the past when world population needed to grow since aman can impregnate numerous women at one time.Today what’s important is the quality of time you spend with your kids, and wife, the less of them, the more quality time, and other resources one can offer.
Remember cultural mores, and customs are not static. Culture of luyha people allows to marry many wives as well, but where I come from,I have seen that custom dwindle astronomically.Men are kind of “content” with one wife.
We as asociety also believe that cheating on one’s spouse is bad. Then when does it become good for obtaining the second wife, and subsequent? Isay One man one wife, one wife one husband.Anything else is greed-or matrimonial-corruption.
What I dont understand is why it takes so long to do away with this counter productive norms. For example we know that female genitalia mutilation is wrong and serves not purpose at all,but we still do it.Good that we stopped knocking off our front teeth,Most of those who knocked off have dentures now.Iam sure they wish they hadnt knocked them for no apparent reason other than”our ancestors did it”. Well our ancestors are not here now. They live their lives and are gone. We live ours and we shall be gone.So lets make life enjoyable to all, male and female equally. And pledge allegiance to my religion SCIENCE. It will never lead you astray. It knows how to find the truth- relative or otherwise. Above all, lets use our brains, plus common sense..MY two cents.
