NYS Graduates Offered Job Openings in the United Kingdom
UK farmers Actively Searching for Skilled Labour

Seasonal job opportunities are available in the UK for graduates of the National Youth Service with a background in agriculture.

UK farmers are actively searching for skilled labour from NYS graduates to fulfil their workforce requirements. Esteemed alumni are being personally notified about these employment prospects in the UK, focusing on graduates with agricultural qualifications. Successful applicants will be offered positions in the horticulture industry within the United Kingdom.

Interested individuals must complete a Google form with their information before Friday, December 1, 2023. According to the NYS Employment Liaison office, those chosen will be stationed in the fruit and vegetable industry for around six months, from February 2024 forward. The Kenya High Commissioner to the UK delivered the innovative Seasonal Worker Scheme (SWS) to NYS.

The National Youth Service has partnered with authorized recruiter HOPs Labour Solutions based in the United Kingdom to handle the hiring procedure. To fulfil the criteria of the agreement, individuals must reside in the UK for half a year before departing. Moreover, in order to proceed with the process, interested individuals should be prepared to cover the following expenses: Sh6,550 for passport processing, Sh192,500 for a direct return ticket, Sh45,325 for the visa application, and Sh30,000 for a sustainability fund to support living expenses until they receive their first paycheck.

Please be aware that the prices given are an estimate. It is crucial for candidates to have a strong drive and passion for agriculture, be in good health and physical shape, and be able to attend the briefing and interviews at the NYS Yatta Field Unit on December 7, 2023.

  1. This is awful colonist…
This is awful colonist.. mzungu hataki kijifanyia chochote. Cheap labor forever

  2. This is awful exploitation…
This is awful exploitation. Really no different from human trafficking where the traffic victim has to pay costs to be traficked and to be exploited. Really sad to treat ourstrong and qualified youth in this manner. Why cant thier costs be covered in full by employer? Why should you use your own resources to travel abroad to pick fruit…and live in squalid conditions. When will the black man wake up and fight for better opportinities and upkeep of his fellow country men and women? Why didnt they negotiate professional jobs – why manual cheap exploitative labour?

  3. Sounds quite expensive…
Sounds quite expensive before the first paycheck. I am not familiar with the British healthcare system but I am wondering whether they will have access to healthcare, especially when considering the drudgery and back-breaking nature of such jobs.

    • I was thinking the same…
I was thinking the same thing. 274000 shillings seems like a lot for a fresh NYS graduate to come up with unless they have rich parents in which case they wouldn’t have joined anyway.

  4. This country economy will…
This country economy will struggle even more in the near future if you cannot afford to create labor for your citizens.
The only ones thriving are govt officials.
