Pastor Pius Muiru’s Wife Links Sister-in-Law to Mother’s Murder

The wife of Pastor Pius Muiru of Maximum Miracle Centre has linked her sister-in-law to the murder of the televangelist’s mother.

Testifying before a Murang’a court on Wednesday, Lucy Muiru said her sister-in-law Monica Muthoni was always at loggerheads with her mother Grace Wangari, who was murdered five years ago.

Alongside security guard Ezekiel Saitambua, Muthoni is the prime suspect in the killing of her 73-year-old mother whose body was discovered buried in a shallow grave five years ago.

Lucy told the court that Muthoni had constant arguments with the deceased at home despite numerous attempts to reconcile them.

The witness says immediately after receiving the news that her mother-in-law was missing, she phoned Muthoni seeking answers on her whereabouts.

“I got a call from my husband and he told me their mother is missing and the first person I called was Muthoni because they used to live in the same compound. She told me that mother had left the previous day carrying a small bag and she said she would be back but never showed up,” Lucy said, adding that she was not satisfied with the answer.

She also told the court that she visited the deceased at her home in Karega, Murang’a County three days before her disappearance and gave her some items and Sh2,000 in cash.

“We spent about one and half hours at home before proceeding to Sabasaba Shopping Centre for a crusade,” she added.

Lucy further said she found it unusual that her mother-in-law had been left home alone.

“We had two guards at home but none was around that time and upon inquiring, I was told one was on leave and the other was out on his errands,” she said.

Another witness, Elizabeth Nyambura told the court that Muthoni’s co-accused Saitambua donated to her several household items including a TV set, two mattresses, and recorders which she later learned belonged to the deceased.

“I had known Ezekiel for about three months and he brought me the items to help me settle down after I walked out of my matrimonial home,” she said.

A postmortem established that Wangari was hit with a blunt object and died of severe head injuries.

Its mysterious how families of seniors ministers sometimes meet their death.I think they ought to be protected n provided with state security coz bad people will do malice in the hunt for money n resources. It also shows Kenya we don’t respect men of cloth because how can we be doing such crude stuff on them?
