Pastor James Nganga's Sasa TV Banned from Airing Live Programs

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has banned Pastor James Ng’ang’a’s Sasa TV from airing live programming with immediate effect.

The agency directed Ng’ang’a’s Neno Evangelism Centre, which operates the television station, to observe the directive for six months.

In a press release on Saturday, the communications authority said the decision was made following investigations of content considered inappropriate aired by Sasa TV during the watershed period on October 3rd, 2021.

“Investigations established that the TV station violated provisions of the Kenya Information and Communications Act, 1998, Broadcasting Regulations, 2009, the Programming Code, and Broadcasting License Conditions,” CA said.

SASA TV has further been directed to ensure it has adequate and qualified personnel who are duly accredited by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK).

The station’s members of staff are also required to undergo mandatory training on appropriate operations of the Profanity Delay Mechanism system, management of live broadcasts, broadcasting legal framework, consumer protection, and complaints handling.

CA also ordered the station to develop and implement adequate internal controls to ensure compliance with broadcast content standards.

“Non-adherence to these directives may attract further sanctions including revocation of SASA TV’s license,” the agency warned.

The punishment follows a live broadcast in which Apostle Ng’ang’a talked about his genitals while discussing how his body should be handled in the event of death.

Does anyone know what his tv station said? Isn’t it a religion tv station? I’d think there are worse content airing on tv stations in Kenya.
