President Kenyatta has invited Tanzania’s new President Samia Hassan Suluhu to Kenya as the two nations look to strengthen ties.
Kenyatta’s invite was formally presented to President Suluhu by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed at State House, Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
“Today, President Suluhu has received a special delegation from the President of the Republic of Kenya, led by Sports minister Amb. Amina Mohamed,” Tanzania’s State House spokesperson Gerson Msigwa said.
Msigwa said the delegation was in Tanzania to deliver Uhuru’s goodwill message to Suluhu, who was sworn in as the country’s first-ever female president following the death of John Pombe Magufuli last month.
“President Kenyatta has assured President Suluhu of Kenya’s commitment to cooperate with Tanzania for the betterment of the two nations,” added Msigwa.
On her part, President Suluhu said her administration is ready to resolve the existing differences between Kenya and Tanzania.
The diplomatic and trade ties between Kenya and Tanzania deteriorated under the reign of President Magufuli, who was seen as hostile to Kenya.
Magufuli, 61, died of Chronic Atrial Fibrillation at Mzena State Hospital in Dar es Salaam on March 18th.
Kenya-Uganda-Tanzania…
Kenya-Uganda-Tanzania solidarity was Mwalimu Nyerere’s dream in the early 1960s. One people one nation not three countries. We are better together.
