Police Quiz Neema Nyawira, the Kenyan Wife of a Missing German National

Detectives have questioned the Kenyan wife of the missing German national Paul Topf, who disappeared more than a week ago.

Topf, a retired German soldier, went missing after he was reportedly picked by unknown people from his home in Lungalunga, Kwale County on November 26th.

Officials from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) told The Standard that Topf’s Kenyan wife, Neema Nyawira was questioned over his disappearance. The detectives further noted that the four men and a woman who took him from his home were not police officers.
 
Further to this, DCI said the signal of Topf’s mobile phone did not go beyond Mwambao Bati village within Shimoni.

On Tuesday, Topf’s wife gave a conflicting account, claiming that she had received information from his sister that her husband had been deported back to Germany.

“I received a call from my sister-in-law in Germany today morning telling me that Paul arrived safely in Germany and he is fine,” Nyawira told The Standard.

Two days earlier, Nyawira claimed that she had learned that her husband was being detained by immigration officials in Nairobi.

Kwale County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge told the publication that investigations into his disappearance were ongoing. 54-year-old Topf moved to Kenya in 2012 and married Nyawira with whom he has a seven-year-old daughter.
