‘My Son is Not Dead,’ Kenyan Man Alleged to be Father of KQ Stowaway Paul Manyasi Now Says

A Kenyan man who appeared on a Sky News TV report authenticating an e-fit image of a stowaway who dropped from a Kenya Airways flight in London on June 30th this year now says the deceased is not his son.

In an interview with KTN News on Wednesday, Isaac Manyasi said he believes his son – who he identified as Shirunja Isaac – is still alive and is being held at the Industrial Area Police station.

“It certainly cannot be him. I don’t believe so,” he said.

“I haven’t reached my son since July 2017. I believe my son is alive because someone who lived with him told me a week ago that my son was being held at Industrial Area Police Station.”

In a Sky News report aired on Tuesday, Isaac and his wife Janet confirmed the composite image provided by London Metropolitan Police matched the depiction of their missing son.

During the interview, Janet even appealed for assistance to airlift his body for burial at their home in Kakamega County.

“I would really love for him to be buried here but the expenses won’t allow us,” she said.

The British media reported that after an investigation, they established the identity of the stowaway as 29-year-old Paul Manyasi.

The denial by the family came after Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and Colnet, a company where Manyasi is alleged to have been working, also denied the report by Sky that he worked at JKIA.

“A security multi-agency team has conducted investigations on the allegations made in the (Sky) news article to the effect that the stowaway worked at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and would like to state that the identity of the stowaway is an open and active investigation and any information received will be investigated to ensure a factual conclusion,” KAA said in a statement.

“The name Paul Manyasi does not appear in the airport pass biometric register,” the agency added.

The man fell off a KQ flight heading to London’s Heathrow Airport from Nairobi. His body dropped into a garden in a residential property in Clapham, South London, at about 3.30 pm local time.

  1. You can see reporters trying…
You can see reporters trying to cover a story without doing their job. This is a story of Kenyans with only 2 names, a father who has not seen, or spoken to his son since 2017. Who would believe that an African father Isaac “Manyasi” would name his son Shirunja “Isaac”. Can someone get us the true story because this is a joke.

  2. Shoddy Kenyan investigations…
Shoddy Kenyan investigations, weak, unconvincing denials. The London police sent fingerprints of the stowaway to the Kenyan police. KAA and Colnet should check if they match any in their biometric register, not the name. He is still the same person, even if he used a different name. And the alleged parents should take a DNA test to verify whether this is their Son, or not. DNA does not lie, and the answer is either yes or no.
