Muthaiga OCS in Trouble for Allowing Dennis Itumbi’s Friends Take Selfies Inside Police Station

Muthaiga OCS Alphonse Kimengua has reportedly been interdicted for allowing friends of Kenyan blogger and journalist Dennis Itumbi take selfies inside the police station.

This comes after photos featuring the former State House director of digital and diaspora communication, his brother David Itumbi, Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe and politician Josiah Murigu were shared on social media.

On Thursday, a Nairobi court ordered that Itumbi be detained for five days at Muthaiga police station pending the conclusion of investigations into a letter alleging a plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.

Itumbi, who currently works at DP Ruto’s office, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon at a restaurant in Nairobi CBD by detectives from the Flying Squad.

He is one of the two Ruto aides accused of circulating the letter on social media platforms.

The letter alleged that a group of leaders from Mt. Kenya region, including four Cabinet Secretaries, had been meeting at La Mada Hotel along Thika Road to plan Ruto’s assassination.

The four Cabinet Secretaries are Peter Munya (Trade), Sicily Kariuki (Health), Joe Mucheru (ICT) and James Macharia (Infrastructure).

The CSs have since denied the allegations even as detectives continue to investigate the matter.
