Raila: Why Gov't Didn't Arrest Me after Taking Oath as People's President

Opposition chief Raila Odinga says he was sworn-in as the people’s president on January 30th because he defeated President Uhuru Kenyatta in last year’s elections.

In his speech at the 5th Devolution Conference in Kakamega on Wednesday, Odinga said that this was the reason why the government did not arrest him for treason after taking the oath.

He insisted that National Super Alliance (Nasa) accessed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) servers and that the results in the system showed that he won.

“This was why I was not arrested even after taking the oath.”

On his famous March 9th handshake with President Kenyatta at Harambee House, Raila noted:  “The handshake came only after we agreed that to end our differences and work together on a cause that will see a united Kenya.”

“We wanted to first have an agreement between the two of us. Uhuru represented Jubilee and I represented NASA,” he added.

After taking the oath, the government opted to go for Odinga’s lieutenants, leaving him scot-free, despite Attorney-General Githu Muigai earlier warning him against the treasonous act. Among those arrested following the ceremony was Ruaraka Member of Parliament Tom Kajwang’ and exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna .

Raila, who addressed the event after it was officially opened by President Uhuru on Tuesday, further called for the adoption of a three-tier government system.

“As a matter of lasting solution to the problem posed by sizes of devolved units, we need to bite the bullet and revisit the structure of devolution,” Raila said. “… the Bomas Draft divided Kenya into 14 regions, it is time to look at how to recover this original spirit.. my proposal is we adopt a three-tier system of government.”

  1. Uhuru, here is the…
Uhuru, here is the disclosure for the handshake intent. This man Raila is still in hot pursuit for the presidency that he believes is his entitlement. Through this handshake, Raila is scheming on how to use you in his raise to the top. He will give you, through constitutional amendment, a post of prime minister by 2022, and then in a dramatic maneuver, kick out the post of prime minister using the same constitutional amendment. Uhuru must abandon this handshake nonsense or will eventually embarrass himself and wananchi.

Even before the dust settles,he is at it again. One step forward several backwards.

  3. “Constitution my foot”. This…
“Constitution my foot”. This statement describes Raila. He does not believe in the only sacred document that holds the country together. That document should not be changed based on his endless greed for power. To create any new positions, the two must explain the duties and responsibilities of governors, MCA’s and tell the country what the current positions have not been able to accomplish that the new positions intend to accomplish. Disclose to Kenyans how much the two elections cost. How has the country recovered that cost. Where is the money coming from that will cater for new positions? Is the “Handshake” the final bullet to destroy Kenya and posterity. Uhuru must undo and abandon the so called “Handshake” and save Kenya from perpetual campaign. Wake up Uhuru,if Raila cannot rule the country he must destroy it and it’s structure. Please remember Raila is one with his famous words “CONSTITUTION MY FOOT”

This bullshit of a handshake needs to be shut down. Kenya needs to seriously cut down the size of government by about 2/3 to spur development. Creating positions for election loosers is just impoverishing Kenyans even further than where they are today.
