President Uhuru Welcomes Raila's Presidential Election Petition

President Uhuru Kenyatta has welcomed National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga’s presidential petition challenging the August 8th presidential outcome.

Raila filed the petition at the Supreme Court on Friday night seeking nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta win in the August 8 poll.

In a statement issued by the State, the head of state said he was glad that Odinga had opted to file a petition in the Supreme Court.

“They have made it clear that they are dissatisfied with the results announced by the IEBC. The proper place to contest the IEBC’s findings is in the court of law designated by the constitution to handle that process, which has the power to call for evidence, and to issue a binding verdict,” said State House spokesperson Manoah Espisu.

He added: “The President reiterates that electoral disputes and grievances ought to be settled by legal and peaceful means, and that the police will maintain law and order.”

On Wednesday, the former Prime Minister referred to Kenyatta’s victory as “computer-generated” .

Raila said Nasa had opted to file the petition in order to “demonstrate to the whole world the making of a computer-generated president.”

President Uhuru was declared the winner of August 8th elections after garnering 8,203,290 votes against Raila Odinga’s 6,762,224.
