President Uhuru Invited to Another Global Summit to Represent Africa

After getting the privilege to attend and address this year’s G7 Summit in Italy, President Uhuru Kenyatta has been given a new opportunity to represent the African continent at the G20 Summit which will be held in July.

The President, who returned to Kenya today from the G7 summit in Italy, was invited to attend the July Forum by German Chancellor Angela Merkel as a representative of the African cause. The forum will will be held in Hamburg, Germany.

President Uhuru made history on Saturday by becoming the first Kenyan President to address the high profile G7 meeting which comprises of seven leaders of the world’s most industrialized countries.

In his address, president Uhuru underscored Africa’s transformation on innovation in which Kenya is a celebrated pioneer in the continent, especially in ICT.

“This is the time to put Africa’s aspirations at the heart of your plans. A freer, more prosperous Africa is a vital partner in solving some of the world’s most pressing problems: poverty, immigration, climate change, terrorism,” President Kenyatta told the Summit.

The president’s sentiments were echoed by Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni who stressed on the the importance of dialogue with Africa.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was among the four heads of state from Africa invited for the Summit with others being Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and Tunisia President Beji Caid Essebsi.

The Group of Seven (G7) is made up of industrialized democracies which include the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom and meets every year to discuss issues such as global economic governance, international security, and energy policy.

    I love his charisma and eloquency, I think he if he cleaned up the corruption that is rampant in those in his government , take out all those non performers , the next 5 would really propel Kenya… Uhuruto tano tena, ndani ndani, ndaani!
