A Nigerian man together with his wife was arrested in Nairobi on suspicion of child trafficking. The couple is being held at the Central Police Station in Nairobi.
The couple was arrested while trying to acquire a passport for a three weeks old baby boy to enable him to travel to Italy.
Police acting on a tip-off from the immigration officers arrested John Marcellus, 43, and Tarsillah Karimi, 56 and baby Jackline Vosevwa at the immigration offices in Nairobi. The man said that he was taking the baby to take care of him together with his wife because the baby’s mother who was his lover was unable to take care of the baby as she as is financially unstable.
Central Police Station Division Criminal Investigation Officer (DCIO), Kiberenge Seroney said that the trio are under investigations and will be arraigned in court once the investigations are completed.
