Oscar Sudi, the Kapseret Member of Parliament and proprietor of the renowned Timba XO club in Eldoret, has publicly commended one of his employees for her remarkable academic accomplishment.

Cytzal Lunyaji, a committed waitress at the establishment, recently completed her bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking from the University of Eldoret. In a heartfelt social media post, Sudi praises Lunyaji’s determination to pursue higher education despite considerable challenges. He expresses pride in her achievement, noting that her success demonstrates how persistent effort can transform aspirational goals into tangible realities.

The recognition comes in the wake of a tumultuous period for Timba XO, which experienced significant disruption during the recent Gen-Z protests. The establishment suffered substantial financial losses when protesters looted drinks valued at thousands of shillings and caused extensive damage. The total economic impact was estimated at over 48 million Kenyan shillings, with approximately 25 million shillings worth of alcohol destroyed.

Notably, Sudi’s response to the destructive incident was characterized by remarkable restraint and compassion. Rather than seeking retribution, he prioritized human life over material possessions. In a reflective statement, he articulated his decision to prevent potential violence, acknowledging that protecting human lives was paramount, even at the cost of substantial financial investment.

“We would have killed over 50 people that day. I told my people not to touch anyone. They allowed them to do what they could and allowed the police to deal with them. The police did their best, but some of them acted stupidly. It would not have been that bad. I thank God because it would have been a bad story, but I did not want people to lose their lives over Sh2,000,” he said,

Established on May 24, 2018, in a ceremonial event featuring prominent Bongo musicians Diamond Platnumz and Zuchu, Timba XO has solidified its position as a significant cultural and entertainment venue in Eldoret.
