Kenyan Students Who Died in a Car Crash in Australia to be Repatriated for Burial
Remains of Two Kenyan Students Who Died in Australia

Two Kenyan students Humphrey Ruto and Penuel Meli from Nandi County, Kenya, lost their lives in a car accident in Perth, Australia.

The accident occurred at an intersection on Tonkin Highway near the Albany Highway exit in Gosnells. A memorial service was held in their honour on March 13, 2024, at Our Lady of the Mission Catholic Church in Craigie, Western Australia. Family spokesperson Mike announced that Humphrey and Penuel’s parents would be departing from Australia on March 18, 2024, carrying their son’s body back to Kenya for burial. The repatriation process was delayed due to the need for the parents to travel to Australia to assist with the identification process.

Mike expressed his appreciation for the streamlined procedures facilitated by the Kenyan community in Western Australia which significantly expedited the identification process. President of the Kenyan Community in Western Australia Denis Lagat commended the community’s staunch support for the bereaved families during this difficult time. He urged Kenyans living abroad to actively participate in such community groups, highlighting their importance in providing support and fostering unity among Kenyans in foreign lands.

“I believe you all know the nature of the accident, which is why it has taken so long. As you know, this is a country of systems, and there is not much we could do but just follow what the authorities wanted us to do, This journey could have taken a bit longer were it not for the committee to make the decision for the parents to come here so as to speed up the process of DNA identification,” Mike said.

Funeral arrangements have been finalized. Penuel Kipchumba’s funeral will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, followed by Humphrey Ruto’s on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

@A GIRL TOTO, you have a very valid point. Without sounding insensitive to the young man’s family member’s grief, could it be it is because the deceased is from the current president’s ethnic community?

Yes, with all due respect, that cloth is just a symbol and can be bought, worn or burned by anyone. I think taxpayers and citizens of any country/colony have the right to do as they please with it…not just for certain classes (MPigs,VIPs,Covid billionaires and state thieves).
If it helps, your grave/bacteria will have no care of who you were…just decompost back to ashes…death the great equalizer.
