Mudavadi Tells Kenya Kwanza to Deliver on Campaign Promises and Stop Blame Games
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged the Kenya Kwanza leadership to prioritize fulfilling their campaign promises for the 2022 elections and refrain from blaming former president Uhuru Kenyatta.

While acknowledging the need to address the rising cost of living, Mr Mudavadi assures Kenyans of President William Ruto’s capability to bolster the economy and uplift ordinary citizens. Speaking in Vihiga yesterday, the former Finance Minister emphasized that merely pointing fingers at the previous administration is insufficient. He thus advocates for leaders to proactively offer solutions. At the 44th annual Maragoli Cultural Festivals in Mbale, the Prime CS underscored the importance of decisive action over dwelling on past mistakes.

“As former Finance Minister, I agree that the cost of living is up. There is no doubt that what we found was bad. But the truth is lamenting will not help. We have to put things straight,” Mr Mudavadi said in Vihiga yesterday.

Mr Mudavadi pledged the Kenya Kwanza administration’s commitment to fulfilling promises, vowing to tackle challenges in education, health, agriculture, and energy to generate widespread employment opportunities, particularly for the youth. According to Mudavadi, the government plans to deactivate the Muhoroni gas turbine known for supplying costly electricity. This decision will help address the challenges for industrial development in Western Kenya. Sabatia MP Clement Sloya stressed the need for political unity that transcends party affiliations.

Meanwhile, Emuhaya legislator Omboko Milemba emphasized collaboration as the linchpin for enabling a resident from the region to ascend to the presidency. The Maragoli Cultural Festival, featuring traditional cuisine, entertainment, and various activities, made a vibrant return after being postponed in 2021 and 2022 due to COVID-19 concerns. Dignitaries gracing the occasion included Vihiga MP Ernest Egesi, County Woman Representative Beatrice Adagala, and former governor Moses Akaranga.
