According to research firm Infotrak, the best-performing county governors are Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay) and George Natembeya (Trans Nzoia) with both scoring 70%

The survey, titled County Track Survey, was conducted between July and September and involved 58,748 participants from all 47 counties. The rankings revealed that first-term governors outperformed second-term governors, with key projects launched by the county bosses. Simon Kachapin of West Pokot (67%), Simba Arati of Kisii (64%), and Irungu Kang’ata of Murang’a (64%) rounded out the top five.

The rankings also highlight the improvement of certain governors, such as Gladys Wanga and George Natembeya, who moved from positions 45 and 42 to positions 1, respectively. Despite facing challenges, Kawira Mwangaza of Meru moved from 38 to 8 in the rankings. John Lati of Samburu made significant progress, moving from 47 to 17, while Julius Malombe closed the list of most improved governors, moving from 29 to 8.

Infotrak’s survey, released on Monday, ranks Trans Nzoia and Homa Bay Counties as the top-performing counties. The counties’ performance, as well as a comparison between previous and current administrations, is also reflected in the rankings. The performance across different sectors can be attributed to the implementation of various projects, such as those in healthcare and infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Impeached Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has been denied the opportunity to have a special committee formed to investigate the allegations against her. Instead, she will now have to defend herself in the plenary, as decided by the senators in a heated afternoon session. The motion, proposed by Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, was rejected by way of acclamation.

The senators who had been selected to comprise the Committee included Boni Khalawale (Kakamega), Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu), Karungo Thangwa (Kiambu), Esther Okenyuri (Nominated), Ali Roba (Mandera), Peris Tobiko (Nominated), Enock Wambua (Kitui), Abdul Haji (Garissa), Okiya Omtatah (Busia), Crystal Asike (Nominated) and Shakila Abdala (Nominated).

Natembea has always had some good leadership skills as compared to most other politicians in Kenya. He is doing what he promised his electorates to do when elected!
