Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has come forward to defend her relationship with Samidoh, also known as Samuel Muchoki, the Mungithi singer.
Nyamu asserts that her involvement in her current situation does not constitute a violation of laws. She cites the legality of polygamous marriages under Kenyan law, aided by a bill approved by the Kenyan Parliament in early 2014. This bill issued an amendment to the marriage legislation, recognizing the long-standing practice of men marrying more than a single wife. Endorsing customary law, the bill initially contained a clause which compelled husbands interested in a second wife to first notify and secure the needed consent from the first wife. Unfortunately, the clause found opposition from male MPs united against it, resulting in its elimination. During the debate, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed expressed the sentiment that marrying multiple wives is a common practice in Africa.
In many African nations including Kenya, polygamy has been a traditional practice for various communities. Per the customs, a man could have up to four wives only with the first wife’s consent. Nyamu advises young individuals to focus on valuing authenticity and to follow their convictions, rather than merely aiming for external validation. Even though Samidoh is married to Edday Nderitu, he was allegedly involved in a relationship with the senator which ignited disputes that nearly escalated during Samidoh’s concerts. Edday confirmed in July that she is no longer involved in a polygamous marriage and has relocated with her children to the United States. Guided by a string of contentious confrontations that nearly escalated to violence at Samidoh’s performances, she found it best to make the move from Kenya.
Edday recently took to Facebook to clear up any misunderstandings about her marital status. She stated that she had divorced her husband and relocated from Kenya to ensure a safer, healthier environment for her children. She reported that she single-handedly provides everything her children need and does not feel any remorse about her decision to depart. Preferably, she wanted peace rather than problems. In addition to that, Edday explained that she had wanted a private marriage, but Samidoh made their relationship public by being involved with Nyamu. The mother of three concluded by stating that she left her husband for whoever needed him more.
Earth is comical.So much…
Earth is comical. So much never ending drama.I’m just here reminiscing about a bowl of ugali #9 with maziwa mala on a sunny afternoon and then I get a news alert about this Idiocracy. What a waste ❗
If I may extrapolate USA…
If I may extrapolate USA social studies to Kenya, you will learn that 80% of women are attracted to the top 10% of men. This means that many women are willing to share men.Yes, men with resources. So I can see Kenya women benefiting from polygamy because it allows them legally to go for the 10%…
If the law allows polygamy in Kenya so be it. I personally dont understand why a man would want more than one wife.Polygamy is also an archaic tradition geared toward benefiting men.If we have to have parity, women should also have the right to marry more than one man.Yes I know its goes against the grain…
The problem I see in Kenya,or africa comes from the confluence between modern way of life, and the “old” way of life.We know women were not allowed to do many things,in the past.Even attending school. In today’s world the roles are pretty much egalitarian. Like it or not essentially we have created anew african culture.Yes traditions die hard. But we have to consciously let the old,and retrogressive customs die,and buried.Unfortunately ,the high divorce rate, affairs, domestic violence are symtomatic ,or by products of the growing pains of adapting to this “new african culture”.
Yes men are having difficulties letting go of the old customs that skewed in their favor, while women are having hard time welcoming the “new freedom” they never had, especially that of depending on a man/husband.And there is no a map or chart tp navigate us toward harmonious’ commingling’.As for now we are just floundering around with various combinations hoping one will open the gates to paradise. No wonder even gays, and lesbians have joined in to the fray.
Where did I go wrong?
This mpango wa kando aka…
This mpango wa kando aka home wrecker needs to shut her trap. She is an embarrassment to women .If she can settle for second best let her not start justifying her promiscuous ways by bringing in the law His legal first wife should lower her pride and make him pay her for child support even if she can afford to bring up the kids on her own. This Malaya is forgetting that she will have to deal with her step kids when they are grown and they will definitely not see or treat her as the saint she is pretending to be.Actions have repercussions
I think you missed the point…
I think you missed the point. If getting more than one partner means malaya, then the man is guilty as well. You forgot about “till death……” ?

This cold heart animal needs…
This cold heart animal needs to understand. Polygamy is where a husband and wife agree to add another woman in their marriage, but it not where a side hen, knowingly target a weak married man, trap him with kid and use kid games to force herself into another woman’s marriage?
Sad someone does that to…
Sad someone does that to another woman and publicly shouts as if single men are not available. She wants marriage benefits without marriage. Shenzi sana. Shetani ashindwe. It’s pure prostitution. I’ve seen women reject their baby daddies then hook up with a married man for cash sake
