Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party secretary-general Junet Mohamed claims that Deputy President William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza alliance is colluding with some top IEBC officials to rig the August 9th presidential election.
Junet, who is also the MP for Suna East, alleges that there is a plot by Ruto’s camp to import marked ballot papers through the Ugandan border.
He claimed that Ford-Kenya Party leader Moses Wetang’ula, a Kenya Kwanza alliance principal, has been sending emissaries to witness the printing of ballot papers as a follow-up to the discussions he had last year with representatives of Lykos (Hellas) SA Holdings, the Greek company awarded a tender to print and supply election materials to IEBC.
Junet said Wetang’ula later met with IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati at his Karen home where they sealed the deal to rig elections in favor of Ruto.
“In your plan, you wanted to use ballots marked in Uganda before they’re transported through the Ugandan border. We know every plan that you had including the meeting you had with Chebukati in Karen,” Junet said during a campaign rally in Kiambu on Wednesday.
Describing ballot papers as key elements in every electoral system, the Junet asked Wetang’ula and Chebukati to come out clean on the matter.
“Come out clearly and tell Kenyans the position of that matter. Ballot papers are key instruments in the electoral process. We know what you did in 2017 and we don’t want elections to be disqualified again,” he added.
On Wednesday, Wetang’ula denied alleged links to three businessmen from Inform Lykos (Hellas) SA Holdings, terming a story published by Nation as false and malicious.
“The story is desperately malicious and false in its entirety and actionable. I have never had any business relationship with IEBC. I know nothing about ballot printing or any printing business for that matter…If I have any links with the printing company that I have no knowledge of or from IEBC if they have any commercial relationship with me apart from overseeing my elections,” he said.
“The malicious story is simply a diversion from real election issues of fighting corruption, high cost of living, debt burden, state capture, glaring conflicts of interest in the management of public affairs, and of course our imminent and unstoppable victory come 9th August 2022.”
This is an elaborate skim to…
This is an elaborate skim to refuse to accept the election results. They have sensed defeat and now asking Uhuru to appoint a handover committee so as to take over power by force. Since when did Kenya have a presidential handover committee? That’s unless Uhuru is trying to seek asylum in the UoN other place. Why can’t he handover power just like the of former presidents?
