Kenyan Woman Who Abandoned Husband of 20 Years to 'Marry' The Holy Spirit Found Dead

A woman who stunned Kenyans last year after dumping her husband of 20 years to ‘marry’ the Holy Spirit is dead.

Elizabeth Nalem, a mother of six, was found dead in a forest near her home in Makutano, West Pokot County over the weekend.

Kapenguria OCPD Kipkemoi Kirui said the woman’s mutilated and decomposing body was discovered on Saturday, more than a week after she was seen heading to the forest carrying a panga and walking stick. Police suspect she may have been attacked by wild animals in the forest.

Nalem hit media headlines after she exchanged wedding vows with the Holy Spirit in a ceremony attended by hundreds of residents at Chelang’a Gardens on May 25th, 2021.

Her neighbor Pastor Albert Rumaita granted her wish by buying her a wedding gown and officiating the unusual wedding.

“I made the decision to preside over, plan and fund the wedding because the world might just be coming to an end and because I’m her neighbor,” said Pastor Rumaita.

Nalem left her matrimonial home and her children under the care of her husband Joshua Nalem to dedicate her life to the church.

After the wedding, Nalem started walking from Makutano to neighboring Uganda for a ‘honeymoon.’

“God has shown me signs to travel to the United States when am done with Uganda. He told me to travel the world but I told him I won’t be able and requested him to recruit other members to help me in spreading the gospel,” she said at the time.

“I talked to my husband and told him to take care of my children. I am being guided by the Holy Spirit. When He tells me to go back home, I will but right now he hasn’t,” she added.

It is almost 60 years since we achieved our political independence. What we have not yet achieved is our “religious Independence.”
After going through a “marathon brainwashing scheme,” we should by now realize that, religion is a byproduct of people’s language, culture, and history. What does this mean? Simply, you cannot call yourself free if you still use a foreign name, language, and culture imposed upon you and your ancestors during the darkest moments of our human history called slavery or colonialism.
It is sad to see what Sister Nalem went through by making an unpardonable mistake of abandoning her husband of 20 years and her six children. She needed counseling and psychological help in order to understand that the concept of the “holy ghost” is an imaginary attempt to understand an alien belief system that goes contrary to our traditional values about husband, marriage, and our concept of a family. The man responsible for creating the myth about the holy ghost was the late Roman Emperor Constantine.
Why are we so gullible and quick to discard anything (good or bad) “African” unlike other nationalities of the world? Let us not forget that we are not the only people to be colonized! The people of India were colonized by the same people who colonized Kenya for about 200 years. What is different is that, the Indians still have their ancestral names, language, religion unlike us! However, they acquired technology and focused on MELTAS (mathematics, engineering, languages, technology, agriculture, sciences) that, they now manufacture their own automobiles, and other technological gadgets manufactured by the so called “developed nations,” and also possess nuclear weapons.
    SOLUTION:
The teaching of religion in our curriculum should be deleted and instead introduce a new subject called “humanity” with the ultimate goal of stressing the importance of responsibility and accountability in our daily lives without corruption, bribery, or the insatiable greed and arrogance among our leaders in both the public and private sectors of our nation.

    • @Ndugu, I mara Daima,I would…
@Ndugu, I mara Daima,I would suggest instead of teaching religion in schools, they should introduce critical thinking early into students curriculum. Critical thinking will allow student to question, and not just believe blindly.
And you are correct in saying that religion is aproduct of our environment. Many religions predate christianity and islam.Ask yourself why…? The only reason mwafrika is embracing these foreign religions is because our ancestors were caught flat footed, and over powered by gun power.
I conclude by saying that it is very disrespectful, and arrogant for one people to claim that their religion is the right one ,when all pretty much do the same thing, and that is deal with the unknown, based of pure beliefs, that have nothing to do with SCIENCE.
