Kenyan Transgender Athlete Charged with Presenting Fake Documents to Anti-Doping Agency

Kenyan athlete Shieys Chepkosgei, alias Hillary Kiprotich, was on Monday arraigned in an Eldoret court over forgery.

The marathon runner is accused of presenting a forged post-natal discharge summary and a notification of birth to the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK), claiming it was issued by the Uasin Gishu County Hospital.

An investigation by ADAK’s intelligence unit established that the documents were fake as the hospital could not ascertain their authenticity.

Chepkosgei presented the papers to the anti-doping agency in her defense after she was found to have participated in a sporting event despite having been sanctioned by the Sports Dispute Tribunal for testing positive for a prohibited substance.

Taking part in athletics events during a period of ineligibility constitutes an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) as per the World Anti-Doping Code.

Chepkosgei claimed that he/she had given birth through a cesarean section and had not recovered, hence he/she could not have traveled to participate in the sporting event.

Following completion of investigations, the runner was arrested and arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Eldoret on Monday, where he/she was charged.

Chepkosgei pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on bail with the case set to be mentioned on March 28th.

Our athletes need some basic legal training. The accused person does not have to prove anything, that burden is with the accuser. If the issue is participating in the Marathon, the organizers have all the evidence. Now, she’s facing another charge, the hospital could not authenticate the documents. Hope she does not try to help.

Iam curios as to what stand Kenya athletic organizations have on transgender participation in female sports. Some of you may recall that this issue is raising a storm in USA,in the wake of this transgender swimmer,Lia Thomas. She is winning all the contests she enters and is no match for cisgenders.
Something has to be done before these “He Females” ruin females sports. Even Sebastian Coe,the head honcho at World Athletics is concerned.
I see this as a problem to do with political correctness. Why suddenly these MALE FEMALES with all the male hormonal advantages want to participate as females? What is so hard about all humans with penises compete against each other, and those with female reproductive organs against their own? Why complicate matters?
If this problem is not nipped in the bud soon, we shall start seem male athletes who are having trouble winning, becoming transgenders for the sole purpose of winning as a woman. Women have to speak up to protect their sports.

      Comrade Maxiley,
I BELIEVE everyone has a right to identify with whatever they want, but in sports, they have an unfair advantage because of the hormone drugs they use, so why do they start their own categories, like LBGT OLYMPICS? DON’T WE HAVE OLYMPICS FOR THE DISABLED?
THEY SHOULD NOT COMPETE WITH THE REST.

      • That would be the best…
That would be the best option. To have their own category, but their arent enough of them to do that.

Agreed. Athletes should have that right, and organizers should have right to impose extra requirements including on hormone levels etc.
