National carrier Kenya Airways (KQ) has signed a new codeshare agreement with British Airways, the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom.
The new partnership allows Kenya Airways customers flying from Nairobi to connect to 26 other destinations across the UK and Europe.
They include the cities of Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Dublin, Aberdeen, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Paris, and Amsterdam.
On the other hand, British Airways customers flying from London will have access to 20 additional destinations in Africa among them Mombasa, Zanzibar, Douala, Lusaka, Addis Ababa, and Entebbe.
“The codeshare agreement with British Airways to provide our travelers with a seamless journey to and from Europe and Africa is very strategic. It will increase choices for thousands of passengers and will allow for smooth connectivity to a significant number of new destinations – particularly throughout Africa and Europe.”
“By harnessing our complementary strengths, it will also provide benefits to aid the recovery of international travel and meet the increasing demand,” Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer Julius Thairu said in a statement.
British Airways on its part expects the codeshare deal to expand its operations on the continent as it resumes travel to Africa following COVID-19-related disruptions.
Kenya Airways currently operates five flights a week to London, except for Wednesdays and Fridays.
