The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Atlanta Chapter has officially been launched.
UDA party secretary-general Veronica Maina presided over the launch at 1885 Roswell St Smyrna, GA 30080 on Saturday.
Also present during the event were Soy MP Caleb Kositany and his Bahati counterpart Kimani Ngunjiri. They were joined by dozens of Kenyans living and working in Georgia.
“The diaspora issues must be put on top priority now and in the upcoming UDA government,” MP Kositany said.
The launch comes weeks after the party associated with Deputy President William Ruto opened an international link office in Seattle, Washington on June 19th.
Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata was the chief guest in the function attended by many Kenyans both physically and virtually.
Ruto, who attended the event via video conferencing, pledged to support Kenyans in the diaspora if he is elected president next year. He promised to establish a ministry that will exclusively deal with issues affecting Kenyans in the diaspora.
“We believe that the diaspora should also participate in the politics of our nation. There is no reason why the diaspora does not have representation in government,” said Ruto.
He added: “…a clear ministry that strictly works on matters to do with the Kenyan community in diaspora. You should have an opportunity to contribute. There is no taxation with no representation.”
The launch of the offices is part of Ruto’s strategy to widen his networks and reach out to diaspora voters ahead of next year’s general election.
The offices are expected to coordinate party activities, including registration of diaspora members and mobilization of campaign resources in the US. Ruto has formally announced he will run for the presidency in 2022 on a UDA party ticket.

Kiongozi mwingine duniani ni Dada Angela Merkel. Mama huyu ameihudumia nchi yake na kuishi kama mwananchi wa kawaida bila mpishi au wafanyakazi kwenye flati yake.
Mtazame aliyekuwa kiongozi wa Iran ndugu Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ambaye alipokuwa rais, alipanda basi ya kawaida na kulipa nauli kama wananchi wengine.
Nchi ya Marekani ya Kusini katika nchi ya Uruguay ilikuwa na kiongozi Rais Jose Mujica ambaye aliendesha VW Beetle. Alitoa kiasi cha mshahara wake asilimia tisini (90%) kusaidia kujenga nyumba za maskini. Nyumbani kwake, hakuwa na mpishi yeyote.

Currently, one of our major problem during the election time is the lack of transparency in clearing people who are not fit to be elected to run for public office.
Everybody in power knew very well about Ndugu Sonko and his past criminal activities which landed him in Shimo la Tewa prison where he escaped without serving his full jail time.
How come he was cleared to run for public office while his decadent past was very well known by those who are responsible in clearing people to run for public service!
I personally blame Ndugu Wafula Chebukati for clearing hyenas to run for public office in the country.
SOLUTION:
I suggest that the DCI (Directorate of Criminal Investigation) and the EACC (The Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission) work together come 2022 in clearing all potential candidates before their names are presented to the people of Kenya for a potential vote.
If this commission is instituted and run appropriately, Ndugu Ruto and others like him will be forced to retire from active politics immediately and permanently.
