Troubled Kenyan athlete Asbel Kiprop has surrendered himself to police hours after threatening to misuse his firearm.
In a chilling Facebook post on Saturday, the Olympic Champion threatened to use his gun to seek justice following his four-year ban.
Last week, the 1,500m World Champion was handed the ban by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Disciplinary Tribunal after he was found to have used a prohibited substance, EPO.
“I pray to [the] National Police Service to dismiss me now before I use their machinery to earn justice for myself. IAAF, kindly come take your medals, I do not need any [of them] on the walls of my house,” said Kiprop.
The 29-year-old has maintained his innocence stating that he was falsely accused of using the banned substance.
Kiprop, a constable, has since handed himself to police even as the Deputy Inspector General Joseph Kiget said action will be taken against him.
“We don’t condone such behaviors from our officers. Channels of addressing personal grievances are provided in the NPS rules and regulations and firm administrative action will be taken,” said Kiget.
