Joy as President Uhuru Meets Nurse Who Helped Mama Ngina Kenyatta Give Birth to Him 56 Years Ago

President Uhuru has finally met a nurse who helped Mama Ngina Kenyatta give birth to him 56 years ago.

It was all joy and excitement when the President met Fredah Shibonje, who was the nurse on duty when Mrs Kenyatta arrived at the Aga Khan Hospital with labor pains on the night of October 26th, 1961.

Shibonje successfully took Mama Ngina through a five-hour labor period to give birth to a boy who would later become Kenya’s fourth President.

“I was humbled but a bit confused and unsure of what to do after learning that the woman I had assisted was the First Lady. At first I had not recognised them only to learn later who they were after I had assisted Mama Ngina,” Shibonje told a local news outlet in the past.
  
In a past interview, the UK-trained nurse said numerous attempts to meet the President were unsuccessful. The two met in Kakamega on Saturday during Mashujaa Day celebrations held at Bukhungu Stadium. 

“Furaha iliyoje kukutana na mkunga aliyekua kwenye zamu siku ambayo Rais @Ukenyatta alizaliwa mwaka wa 1961. Bi Fredah Shibonje alihudhuria sherehe ya #MashujaaDay2018 leo mjini Kakamega na kupata fursa ya kukutana na Rais Kenyatta. Tunamuenzi shujaa huyu,” State House spokesperson Kanze Dena said in a tweet on Saturday evening.
