A Kenyan family in the United States has announced a $10,000 reward to anyone with more information about the suspicious death of their son.
The body of 22-year-old Noble Douglas Kimanthi Abdullah, alias Kimo, a Texas Tech University student, was recovered on April 8th by Lubbock police.
His remains were found near an 11-story parking garage on campus, but a police report of his death did not capture details of the cause of his injuries. Police have not ruled out suicide, but don’t suspect foul play.
“Knowing Kimo’s character, he was not suicidal, well-liked and often went for early morning jogs,” his father, Noble Abdullah told KCBD.
“We feel people were involved in his death.”
A report by police says that an officer at the scene who viewed a CCTV footage said he saw unidentified persons running past surveillance cameras at 2:20 a.m. and 3:40 a.m., but “observed no further suspicious activity or subjects.”
Texas Tech University will have its campus flag lowered to half staff on Monday, April 23rd to honor Kimo, who was studying computer science and technology. His family lives in Spring, Texas.
We are the parents of Kimo…
We are the parents of Kimo Abdullah and we thank you for covering the story regarding our son’s demise.
However, there are some facts we want to provide you with regarding the case.
1. The police have designated our son’s case as an active “Death Investigation”. The absence of convicting evidence at this point, logically led the police to state that they don’t have signs of foul play as yet. There being no signs of foul play only means that the evidence has not yet been identified.
And this is the reason for our reward.
2. We are a Kenyan-American family.
3. The parking garage is not on campus but adjacent to it, and is privately owned.
Very sorry for your loss…
Very sorry for your loss. Hope you find closure and truth to this unimaginable loss.
Thank you! It is…
Thank you! It is unimaginable.
The Medical Examiner…
The Medical Examiner concluded the circumstance surrounding our son’s death as “undetermined”. Subsequently the police closed the case since they had no one in their custody. We have since engaged a private investigator as well as increased the cash reward to $20,000 for any information that would lead to a conviction(s).
