Three More Counties Adopt Motion to Form Raila's People's Assembly

Three more counties from western Kenya have adopted National Super Alliance’s motion seeking the formation of People’s Assembly to push for the coalition’s quest for electoral justice.

Busia, Vihiga and Homa Bay counties on Thursday unanimously approved the motion to create the assemblies, only a day after Nasa leader Raila Odinga’s home County, Siaya adopted the bill.

In Busia, the motion was tabled by Deputy Minority Leader Moses Ochieng’ and seconded by Malaba Central Ward MCA Bernard Papa. The bill will be presented to Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong for assent.

Vihiga County Assembly adopted the motion moved by Majority Leader Wycliffe Masini and is awaiting debate and approval.

In Homa Bay, the motion for the adoption was tabled by Assembly Deputy Majority Leader Ruth Ombura.

“The constitution stipulates that the sovereign power belongs to the people. The powers will be exercised well only if we form the People’s Assembly in this county,” said Ombura.
