Presidents Museveni, Magufuli, Farmajo, Nkurunziza Congratulate President Uhuru on Re-Election

Regional heads of state led the international community in congratulating President Uhuru Kenyatta upon his declaration as President on Friday, following Tuesday’s general elections.

Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni passed his congratulations to President Kenyatta, saying his re-election was a clear testimony of the trust he has earned from the people of Kenya. “I look forward to continue working with you to strengthen further the brotherly relations and co-operations between our countries as well as other EAC partner States in the quest to develop our region,” stated Museveni.

Tanzanian President Dr. John Joseph Pombe Magufuli was also not left behind in congratulating President Kenyatta. Magufuli said in a Tweet: “Nakupongeza Ndugu Uhuru Kenyatta kwa kuchaguliwa kuwa Rais wa Kenya kwa kipindi kingine. Nakutakia mafanikio mema (I congratulate you (Uhuru Kenyatta for your re-election. I wish you well).”

In his congratulatory message, Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo termed President Uhuru as not only a close friend and brother but also a development-conscious and diligent leader.

“On behalf of all Burundians, I congratulate President elect Uhuru Kenyatta and the people of Kenya. Looking forward to strengthen our relations,” tweeted Burundian President, Pierre Nkrunziza.

Namibia’s Hage Geingob also tweeted a congratulatory message for President Kenyatta’s electoral success and his magnanimity in victory by putting Kenya first. “My brother, @UKenyatta, congratulations on your electoral success and your magnanimity in victory by putting #Kenya first.”

  1. Its nice to hear those…
Its nice to hear those congratulatory praises. Whether some of these leaders are just “parroting” what is expected of them to say is another story.
Certainly I dont know what is in their heart, but I can have a pretty good idea of what they are thinking, based on their history. Kagame has been forthright in his desire to see east africa do well economically, politically, and socially. But Magafuli has thwarted some of the efforts that would bring these nations in one “unit”.
Iknow Uhuru knows who is sincerely on his side.
Interestingly non of them are congratulating Raila for putting up a spirited fight. Why? Being a run up no disgrace…

  2. How can you congratulate…
How can you congratulate someone who refuses to concede defeat thereby creating a recipe for chaos? I’ve never heard losers congratulated before. Give us a break!
