Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka has warned the opposition that they risk losing crucial seats in the August 8 polls due to competition among NASA affiliate parties.

The Wiper Democratic Movement Party leader asked NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga and his fellow co-principal Isaac Rutto to intervene and compel upon candidates with slim chances to step down.

The former Vice President said, by coalition fronting two candidates for one seat, they are giving their rivals in Jubilee an upper hand.

Kalonzo cited Narok County where Patrick Ntutu of Isaac Ruto’s Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) and Joseph Tiampati of Raila-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) are running against each other, saying that it will give incumbent Governor Samuel Tunai of Jubilee an advantage. “One of our candidates should step down for the other. If they don’t, Tunai will beat them and we do not want this to happen,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo spoke in Sampulai, Narok County where he endorsed Wiper vice-chairman Martin Ole Kamwaro for Narok North parliamentary seat.

The NASA deputy leaders also endorsed Patrick Ntutu (CCM) for the Narok governor seat, saying that he had higher chances compared to ODM candidate.

Narok woman representative aspirant on a CCM ticket Lydia Ntimama also hit out at their ODM colleagues, asking them to shelve their ambitions for stronger candidates “ODM members think that they are more superior to others and failure to involve equal members could surely cost us some of the top seats.” Ntimama said.
