Deputy President William Ruto has accused opposition coalition National Super Alliance (NASA) of wanting to revive International Criminal Court (ICC) cases which faced him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking while on a campaign trail in Nandi County on Monday, the country’s second in command said that they were aware the opposition was plotting to revive the cases that crumbled at the Hague based court.

“We are aware of a plan by our competitors in the NASA alliance to have the cases we had at ICC resurrected in the event that they win the election but their plans will not work,” Ruto said at Nandi Hills town.

The Jubilee Party leader went ahead to repeat the same claims in almost all the joints they addressed residents in the County, reviving again the debate that dominated the 2013 general elections campaigns.

The Jubilee leaders were among six suspects named by the ICC as the main perpetrators of the 2007/08 post-election skirmishes and were facing criminal charges against humanity.

Last week, ICC prosecution lawyer Anton Steynberg said that the International Criminal Court Prosecution regretted the manner in which they handled the Kenyan cases, adding that he hopes that the cases will be revisited in the future.

The lawyer lamented the lack of cooperation from the government as far as the cases were concerned, adding that if the next government cooperates, then there was a possibility that they will revisit the cases.

Ruto, I thought you are a follower of jesus and the bible. When I was a follower of your religion, I read somewhere where it said that, clearly that “Thou shalt not lie!” Ruto: Why are lying?

Lead by example but not by lies.
