Former TV presenter Kimani Mbugua has reached out to his fans and supporters for help as he claims to be homeless.

The 27-year-old, who was once known for his youthful approach to news, suffered from bipolar disorder in 2021 which led to the downfall of his media career. He says lost many friends along the way and most people are no longer willing to help him. Kimani spent 54 days in a mental hospital last year and his parents did everything they could to help him recover, including taking him to various rehab centers and hospitals.

“Hi guys, Kimani Mbugua here former star of TV. It feels so bad to say that right now because I am not there anymore. But niko kwa shida, and I need your help,” Kimani said on the video.

During his plea on Saturday evening, Kimani shared his experience with depression which he has been dealing with since his university days. He also disclosed that experimenting with marijuana during the peak of his success led to the emergence of psychosis. Kimani further expressed his desire to find a business partner who can assist with funding his business ideas. He admitted to not owning a phone and had to borrow one from a bystander just to upload his video on social media.

Upon being discharged from the hospital last week, Kimani declared that his mental state felt restored. He also stated that he has no desire to return to his previous residence. In a video, he acknowledges that he is homeless, mentioning that the people who previously housed him have requested that he find alternative arrangements.

“If you are interested in the business idea, or if you want to host me. I need a laptop and Wi-Fi and if you can do that please help me,” he said.

Wishing him all the best, mental health comes with a lot of stigma in Kenya. Time we start addressing it…

  6. Before we even think of…
Before we even think of diaspora, surely somebody in Kenya should be able to help.He is not asking much. Where is Sonko and ,or his disciples ?
Mpigs spend that much on their illicit love affair at our expense; we pay them too much. All they have to do is just skip one weekend of amorous adventure, and help this young man.Heck, some dont even have to skip anything.

    • @maxiley, You don’t have to…
@maxiley, You don’t have to ask someone else to help. Why don’t you start with your kshs 50, then all others follow suit? Its always someone else’s problem, kick the can down the road, and voila, you feel gratified. Kenyans????

I dont know how long you have been on this forum. As of now, Iam helping paying school fees and other expenses of a Kenyan boy whom I found on Mwakilishi. Not to mention many donations I give quietly via this forum-like many of you readers I suppose. So I dont mind helping. However, I would like Kenyans who are already there with him to “stick out first”.Any problem with that?

  7. There is not much knowledge…
There is not much knowledge that his mental status can ever be restored to pre-psychosis, especially if it involved weed. I have lost two cousins to this. Young men should not try Marijuana until they are well into their 30’s. It is clinically proven that Marijuana damages young men’s development of the brain, especially if used heaving in teenage years through age 25. Current thinking is that a boy’s brain continues higher development unroll age 25.

    • Unless the weed now smoked…
Unless the weed now smoked in Kenya is the synthetic kind, weed is really not a bad thing. Me and a few very well known public individuals in former president Uhuru’s administration and 1 currently in Ruto’s government smoked it all through high school and that did not interfere with our success in life. Home-grown weed is okay, man-made is a disaster.
