Mercy Tarus, a Kabarak University graduate, has declined several job openings to focus on advocating for the rights of parents and students in Uasin Gishu.

Tarus gained national attention after confronting local leaders over the controversial Uasin Gishu education airlift program. Speaking on Saturday, she explained that her priority is to ensure that families impacted by the scheme are compensated. The teacher and hairdresser refrained from sharing information concerning the job openings she received. Tarus also clarified that she did not reject an offer from Narok Senator Ledama Olekina, but rather urged him to pressure officials to compensate the affected families before discussing any likely partnership with her.

“I did not reject that job offer, I suggested that he should talk to his fellow senator to compensate the funds, but now he (Ledama) has said that he has no business talking to Mandago which is okay with me. That’s like telling me no, I am not getting that job,” she detailed.

Tarus had hoped to pursue a two-year diploma course in Social Service at Northern Lights College in Canada. She had suggested that Ledama should talk to Uasin Gishu senator Jackson Mandago to compensate for the funds. However, Ledama said that he has no business talking to Mandago. Taurus has expressed her desire to go abroad to expand her perspectives and come back with different ideas that would benefit Kenyans. Nominated MCA Syntei Nchoe reached out to Tarus and asked to meet her during the upcoming county’s Devolution Conference. The MCA also criticized Ledama for failing to provide job opportunities to his constituents before contacting Tarus.

“I did not reject that job offer, I suggested that he should talk to his fellow senator to compensate the funds, but now he (Ledama) has said that he has no business talking to Mandago which is okay with me. That’s like telling me no, I am not getting that job,” she detailed.

Huruma Turas might be “SWEEPING” money elsewhere if it is true she rejected five job offers.Whoever advised her was wrong as (s)he never mentioned to her that so-called politicians will use and even fuck(her) then dump her like tissue paper.Don’t go press for rejecting any job off.UTACHEKWA BADAYE.

Shame those offering you a job by naming them publicly they are riding on your 15 minutes of fame just like the talenta hela jobs created by Ababu Namwamba when the stolen money for these job’s disappeared so did the jobs or rather he upgraded his ride or side dish with the money.People are seriously suffering and then some MPIG comes out of nowhere with a fake job offer it is not like we have a shortage of leaders in Kenya but those that dare speak out are quickly flattened like envelopes especially with the reincarnation of a president showing dictatorship tendencies like we did not learn anything under 24 years of his tribe mate.

2 years from now, she will be back here talking about she still unemployed. Who told her could not be employed and still advocate for the parents and students? This kind of shortsightedness is sad to see.

She did the right thing by declining the job offers. Everything politicians do is designed to produce a specific outcome and I can guess the idea was to give her a job, later terminate her under made up sensational excuses such as promiscuity sexual behavior with the security guard in the county office toilets, and eventually destroy her profile. I will trust a mentally sick Mathare Hosptial patient before I trust a politician.

Politicians should offer her scholarship for what she wanted originally. She wasn’t asking for a job but refunds and flying overseas. How could a senator offer a job after a fellow senator fleeced parents?
