On Tuesday, President William Ruto held a meeting at State House, Nairobi, when he hosted some MPs from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Ruto tweeted afterwards that he will collaborate with leaders regardless of their political, tribal, or regional affiliations. However, he did not avail further information about the meeting. The head of State is scheduled to tour Homa Bay and Siaya counties next week. On July 23, he will be in Suba South and Karachuonyo constituencies, then proceed to Gem and Bondo on the 24th. He will be hosted by Caroli Omond while in Suba. Additionally, on the 23rd, he will be attending the rescheduled Thanksgiving ceremony of Interior PS Raymond Omollo at Oriwo Boys High School.
The President will spend a night at Kisumu State Lodge where he will be welcomed by various dignitaries and elected officials. The following day, Mr Odhiambo in Gem and Dr Ochanda in Bondo will host the President for the launch of several projects. The visits were confirmed by Dr Ochanda and a team of local leaders including Mr Omondi, Mr Odhiambo and other leaders.
The ODM leaders had convened at the State House to discuss President Ruto’s visit and evaluate the progress of development initiatives in their respective constituencies. The President further discussed the underutilization of Yala Swamp, the overfishing of fisheries, and the ongoing harassment of fishermen. Mr Odhiambo said the President will present some cheques and launch development projects in Gem. Mr Owalo and Dr Omollo were secretive about the details but made it known that the meeting was centred around development.
“It was a normal development meeting between us and the President and of course his possibility of coming to the region. We looked at the progress of some projects and what should be done to fast-track them,” said Dr Ochanda.
All said and done, Ruto is a…
All said and done, Ruto is a better political player not seen since Moi and, despite the fact that Kenyans are very difficult people to deal with since they have no loyalties and sell out to the highest bidder with their fake politeness, he has a lot cut out for him. Since he wanted and got the presidency, and he’s one of us, let’s give him a chance. After all, no man leaves for ever. I don’t think he’ll want to have a bad legacy. So, he has my vote. It’s up to him to build or destroy his country in this trying global times. God speed Mr. President. Good luck.
