Raila: Uhuru Kenyatta is Not Funding Anti-government Protests

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga has dismissed claims that former president Uhuru Kenyatta is funding the ongoing opposition’s protests against the government.

In an interview with BBC, Odinga termed the allegations made by a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders as unfounded, insisting that Kenyatta does not engage in Azimio’s “domestic issues” even though he is a member of the coalition.

“There have been unfounded allegations that Honourable Uhuru Kenyatta is funding the current protests. Nothing could be further from the truth,” Odinga said.

“Yes, Uhuru Kenyatta is a member of this movement, he is still the chairman of this movement, but he’s restrained himself and has had no time to engage in domestic issues at all, neither has he commented or talked about what is going on in the country,” he added.

He condemned Monday’s raid of his East Africa Spectre Limited gas plant in Nairobi and the invasion of an expansive land in Ruiru owned by Kenyatta’s family by hired goons.

Odinga described the raids as a well-orchestrated move by the government to dismember the opposition.

“They had planned, this cannot be an accident. They have been talking about it and have gone public saying they are going to invade Uhuru’s farm,” Odinga said.

Last week, National Assembly Majority Leader and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah had publicly warned that Kenyatta’s land could be invaded by locals if he continued financing Azimio protests.

“I want to ask our former president to respect other people’s property. If you cannot do that, we have so many questions to ask you starting with the land you occupy in Ruiru, Taita Taveta, and Nakuru. If you attack people’s property, we will also attack your land and ensure those that do not also get a share,” he said in Kirinyaga.

Ichung’wah has since distanced himself from the invasion.

“I addressed him because he is the Azimio financier and I cautioned him that he is losing hold of the people when he was President and last week. I am ready to account for my time with regards to the allegations,” he told the media on Tuesday.

Odinga accused Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of masterminding the attacks.

  1. Samoei: Lessons from Donald…
    Samoei: Lessons from Donald Trump

I don’t know how much information you know about the construct “democracy?”

I am sure by now you know what Donald Trump did to his blind, brainwashed, and his misinformed sycophants on January 6, 2021. Five people lost their lives and many more have been imprisoned as a result of their blind sycophancy to him.

What is amazing about the American democracy is that Donald has not been arrested, imprisoned or being asked to stop his ruthless campaigns full of lies and misinformation that he won the 2020 presidential election in the US.
Have the courage to allow non-violent demonstrations continue and tame your irrational members of the police from harassing, detaining, and arresting ordinary citizens who are doing exactly what Donald Trump has been doing for the last three years – campaigning non-stop for the USA presidency of 2024.
You did the same thing that Donald Trump is doing. You campaigned everyday for five years including attending fake Sunday services where you campaigned relentlessly while receiving state protection, emoluments, and also finished your doctorate being a full-time vice president. However, you neglected your duties as required by the constitution.
I almost lost my mother during the struggle for independence when the Freedom and Land Fighters attacked my parents for spreading the Roman/Jewish Religious Faith and accused my parents for being agents of British Colonialism in Kenya. I was saddened by the events that took place in Kenya on Monday and wondered why you had to leave the country after receiving intelligence reports of what was about to happen to the former president’s property.

Have the courage to apologize to President Uhuru Ngina Kamau and the people of Kenya for your careless and carefree style of leadership which allows you to underperform your duties as the president of Kenya.

Finally, had our heroes of the Second Liberation of Kenya, remained silent (like you) you probably would still be selling eggs and chickens in Eldoret.

Learn more about “democracy” the American style and allow Raila to do what you did for the last 5 years – daily campaigning and blaming the president while you totally forgot your immediate responsibilities as a vice president. If you were man enough, you would have done what Raila’s father did when he was unable to get along with President Kamau Muigai: he resigned.
We will not allow you to bring back Toroitich’s style of administration in our beloved country. If you continue your Toroitich’s style of leadership in Kenya, I guarantee you that, YOU WILL BE IMPEACHED and go back to your egg/chicken business again.
