My Husband and I Live in Separate Houses, Governor Anne Waiguru Says

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has opened up about the state of her marriage to lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo.

Waiguru and Kamotho, both divorcees, exchanged vows in a Kikuyu traditional wedding in July 2019.

In an interview with Sunday Nation, Waiguru divulged that they live in separate houses, but this does not stop them from enjoying their marriage.

The first-time governor said she still lives at her home in Kitisuru while her husband resides in Runda.

“Actually the reason we run two homes is the logistics of combining. Every time we start, it is too much work. Think about it, you choose the furniture, let’s start with the living room, whose stays and whose goes? I am attached to silly things and he is attached to his stuff,” said Waiguru.

She explained that Kamotho could not move into her house because the Kikuyu and African cultures do not allow that, adding that she feels much safer while at her Kitisuru home.

“But if you think about my political life, this place [Kitisuru] is very safe. Even when he is traveling he feels safer when I am here than when I am in Runda,” she said.

To balance her private and professional life, Waiguru said she devotes her time to politics during the week and reserved weekends for her family.

“Sundays are exclusively for me and Kamotho. Even children know it. Saturdays are for the whole family, but Sundays are ours,” Waiguru added.

Waiguru and Kamotho had children from their previous marriage before settling down as wife and husband.

That pose in the picture says it all-separation.Kila mtu na kwake.
I can see why this might work for them. They are two independent individual with carriers that consume more of their time, than what goes in the marriage. And they have resources to do it.Usually it saves some cash living in one house sharing expenses and raising children. To them this is not a factor…

My man cannot sleep because I snore like a pregnant hippo. I sleep in the guest bedroom while he sleeps in master bedroom. During the night I sneak to the master or he sneaks to the guest bedroom for coitus. It works great for us but am not sure about living in different homes. The man can easily cheat, especially in this uber and social media day and age – cheating could last only 2 hours in runda while Waigiuru is snoring in kitisuru – this one is a no-no for me

Great for you two. You seem to always have something to brag about and show off. So how about showing what good you have done for your constituents? That is what they voted you in for. How about showing what part of your goals you have met or have not met and why not.

I’m curious why the governor of Kirinyaga is living in another county. Most places require politicians to live amongst those they represent. If there is insecurity, it’s your duty as governor to fix it, not run. Only in Kenya would this foolishness fly. To my people in Kīrīnyaga I ask, mūreka atīa? Do not reelect this crook or her greedy doppelganger Ngirici.

I love the way these two handle their marriage – with respect and maturity. This is the 21st century, people have owned the right to do as they please. Who says we have to stick to the so-called “normal way of doing things”?
Keep enjoying your lives Anne and Kamotho!
