MP Junet Mohamed Under Fire for Vilifying Senator Isaac Mwaura

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed is under fire for vilifying Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura.

Speaking in Turkana County on Saturday, Junet claimed that Senator Mwaura, who suffers from albinism, bleached his skin in order to get a nomination slot.

“It seems he bleached himself so he could secure himself nomination to the National Assembly first through the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), then Jubilee and now he has decamped to the Wheelbarrow movement,” Junet is quoted as saying.

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) condemned the remarks and warned of a possible action against Junet.

“Such utterances are demeaning to persons living with disability, if left unattended it may trigger division between persons of different colors. The Commission is considering the matter with the view of taking appropriate action,” NCIC said through Twitter.

Junet’s distasteful remarks also sparked uproar among Kenyans on social media, who want him to apologize.
