The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has invited applications for the party’s 2022 presidential candidate.
Those interested in vying for president on an ODM ticket have until February 26th, 2021, to submit their applications to the party’s National Elections Board (NEB).
“The National Elections Board (NEB) hereby gives notice to party members who are interested in vying for the 2022 presidential election on the ODM party ticket to declare their interest by submitting their applications to the NEB,” the notice signed by NEB Chairperson, Catherine Muyeka Mumma reads.
To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must be a Kenyan citizen by birth, a registered voter, a life member of the party, and a holder of a degree from a recognized university, among other qualifications.
Applicants are also required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Sh1 million.
The notice follows a resolution by the party’s Central Committee on the need for early preparations towards the 2022 general election.
“Applicants must meet all other requirements under the Elections Act and the regulations made by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission,” the notice adds.

This early? Seems like the main interest is in the Shs 1M non-refundable application fee. In a fair process, the party should first provide the process that will be used to select the flag bearer, then ask for applications and fee.
