A 45-year-old man who brutally murdered his mother and sister in Kibwezi, Makueni County on Saturday has been lynched by mob.
The suspect allegedly attacked and stabbed his 35-year-old sister before slitting his 80-year-old mother’s throat after she tried to intervene.
It was not immediately established what prompted the man to attack his sister. The granny died on the spot while her daughter succumbed to stab wounds while being rushed to the hospital.
Area Assistant Chief Agnes Maswai who confirmed the incident said a knife was recovered at the scene.
The man, a former convict who was released from prison in July last year, went into hiding after the incident.
On Sunday, residents of Metava village busted the suspect hiding in a thicket a few kilometers from the scene of crime. They took the law into their own hands and stoned him to death, according to police.
“He was stoned to death by the public and his body has been taken to Makindu Hospital mortuary,” a senior police officer told a local media.
